As I sit in the comfortable blue airplane seat, staring out the small window I begin to get this feeling in my stomach. It's the butterflies, the same ones I got the first time we ever talked, the same ones I get every day I get to talk to you. The same ones I get when I think about the future, our future, the one we always talk about.
"Need anything hun?" The middle-aged flight attendant asked me.
I'd never flown before, at the age of eighteen I had already been up and down the entire East Coast of the US, but never on a plane. I didn't trust my stomach.
"No, thank you." I replied, as I felt the buzz from my phone.
The older woman next to me couldn't help but notice the huge smile that had overtaken my face as I read the text from you asking how the flight was going.
"Tell me about her" She said, smiling as I looked up at her, feeling my cheeks burn as I realized I'd been caught smiling like an idiot.
"She's amazing. Absolutely perfect. Everything about her makes me smile. She's the sweetest girl in the world, that's my favorite thing about her. I'm actually on this flight to go see her." I replied.
"She lives in London?" She asked.
"Yeah, this will be our first time ever being together in person." I replied, taking out my phone to show her a picture of my beautiful girlfriend.
"She's very beautiful, I hope you two have an amazing time together." The old lady replied, getting her neck pillow out and beginning to rest her eyes.
She quickly fell asleep, so I was left with my thoughts again. My emotions were incredibly mixed but I was more excited than anything. But I was also extremely nervous, you're so beautiful and so amazing, and I never thought I deserved you. But as long as I am with you, I know everything will be amazing.
I began to take the old lady's lead and drift off to sleep, right when you texted me again.
"I'll be waiting at the gate when your plane lands, I love you." Your text read.
"I love you more, babygirl. See you soon." I replied, sliding my phone into my hoodie pocket and letting myself drift to sleep.
The dream I had was almost too real. I dreamt of the plane landing, and walking out of the gate and seeing you standing there, looking absolutely stunning. You ran straight up to me and hugged me, I think both of our eyes started to water at the realization that we were finally holding each other after so long apart.
Before I could finish the dream, the lady beside me nudged my arm. The plane had landed. It was time.
