The creatures were a mere four inches, but sure as hell were they disturbing. They had leathery skin and tiny, wrinkly, oily heads with bloodshot eyes and pointy noses. They bared razor-sharp teeth that curved up to there pointy ears, on a round wrinkly bald scalp. Every night they would come into my room and crawl up my arms, leaving nicks and bruises. I kicked and flung them across the room, screaming in terror, my father would burst in and say the same things.
"What's wrong! What happened!" He yelled. Lights in the hallway flicked on and my little sister and my mom peeked in from around the corner. My dad shooed them away and sat on my dark cactus green bed sheets.
"T-The creatures!" I panted in a cold sweat, "They bit me."
My dad sighed, as he had heard this story a thousand times.
"You watch too many horror movies, Aeris. I'm not dealing with this nonsense. Go to bed." He demanded. My face felt hot and I nodded through misty eyes. He stood up and walked out of the room. Once he turned the corner to his bedroom, two glimmering glue eyes and silky blonde hair came from around the corner. My little sister. She's only three right now, but she is very, very smart. She was very silent most of the time, and always seemed to know what to say.
She silently walked over to me and climbed up on my bed. I waited until she was up before doing or saying anything.
"Hey, Ally," I said. She put her fingers to her lips and shushed me. In her little toddler voice, lisp and all and whispered to me.
"I believe you,"
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She gazed at me with her giant blue eyes that were filled with nothing but the perception of what was happening to me. Before I could even think of what to say, Ally snuggled up like a kitten on my chest and close her eyes. I pulled her close and looked up at the ceiling in wonder. I've always known Ally was strange, but this was different. She wasn't just going along with what I said,
She had lived it.
