Since Carol, Susan, & Emily consider me their best friend, I decide make them help me pass out my Halloween party flyers. As the bell rings and everyone starts piling out onto the hallway, Carol and Susan hand them out.

"Oh hey Susan!"

I know that voice. And it irritates me.

"Hey Nancy! Here!"

Her eyes flicker to me, as if making sure it was okay to take a flyer.

"Girls, allow me," I speak up, pushing myself away from my leaning state on the wall, and grab an orange flyer from Carol's hands and politely hand it to Nancy.

"Thanks, hey, do you think I can have one more?"

For a second I think as to why she'd need another one but I finally notice the quiet kid, Jonathan Byers avoiding all eye contact with everybody by looking down. My attention goes back to Nancy and I nicely hand her another one. She thanks me again and heads off with her second boyfriend.

I actually feel true pity for Jonathan, after everything that happened to him last year. If it was bad for Dustin, a best friend of Will's, I couldn't imagine what it was like for his brother.

After at least giving a few four dozen flyers, the girls decide to hand out more on the other side of the building, leaving me to walk ahead with my hands in my pockets, feeling for my lighter and pack.

There's a squeal I hear to the left and see Steve bear hugging Nancy happily until I see his smile falter a bit when he sees me. But I just walk forward, with a tiny amount of content that I can still have a small effect on him.

And here, ladies & gentlemen is where my point still stands. Jonathan walking alone in front of me just because Nancy ditched him for Steve. The girl can never choose! Well luckily for him, I actually find him to be very well composed and kind. "Byers!" I shout, walking faster to catch up to him.

He stops to see who's calling for him & he looks surely surprised that I'm the one calling for him. "Hey, Diana," he replies shyly once I catch up to him.

Nodding in response, I retrieve my pack of cigarettes and lighter and shake them in front of his face. "Ditch? My car?"

"S-Sure."

I smile at him, Jonathan being the only one in this school who doesn't annoy me and actually puts me in a peaceful state. Just friends & nothing else.

"What's it like?"

"What's it like what?" Jonathan asks completely dumbfounded in the passenger seat, exhaling out toxins.

"What's it like knowing you and Harrington love the same girl?"

"I don't love her I just–we're just really good friends," he shrugs, attempting to dismiss the topic.

I can't hold in my laugh when he says that. "Jonathan, I've known you since elementary and I know that you'd never socialize with anyone unless you had to. And by the looks of it, no one's forcing you to be friends with Nancy."

"Doesn't matter," he starts quietly, exhaling again making my fingers bring the window down to let the smoke out before we suffocate ourselves, "she's dating Steve—"

"Screw Steve," I retort back. He smiles then looks in the window to see a shadow of a person walking in the parking lot.

"Hey Diana? We have company..." he points then starts to slouch down really lowly in his seat. I bend my upper body down a bit, not a lot so I can still see who it is.

The person is whistling, and as his shadow gets closer I see the jeans and jean jacket. I groan in disappointment and sit back down correctly while telling Jonathan "it's just stupid Hargrove skipping class on his first day."

As he sits back up Billy's head turns to the right and connects his eyes with mine. He smirks, getting me quite worked up for going through all this trouble just hiding from him. So I give him a nice clean look of my middle finger.

"Diana, you're gonna get us killed, he doesn't look like type to—"

"Oh shut up Jonathan and take a chill pill," I say through gritted teeth without taking my eyes off Hargrove. He still continues to walk away, I guess smirking at the thought of me flipping him off.

"Ugh, I just want to bash his fucking head in!!" I exclaim, banging on the dashboard.

"But he's barely been here for not even a full day yet–"

"Still no excuse." I mumble stubbornly.

The bell from school rings, signaling it's time for 5th period. Jonathan shuffles in his seat then speaks up, "Hey, well I have to go. You see I have a project to do with Nancy next period."

"Alright," he grabs his backpack and opens the door to stomp on his cigarette before getting out, "oh and Jonathan? She'll come to you if she truly does want you. And I better see you at my party!"

He smiles then closes the door to leave me alone again.

4:17 pm

"Dee, I think I'm in love." Dustin sighs before even being able to fully close the door. A chuckle escapes my mouth before saying "Been there, done that. Tell me about it." And no, no one can call me Dee except this ass.

As I start the car he starts rambling off about how there's this new girl with, I quote, "red hair like the type of red you see when the sun starts setting down."

"Ohh I saw her. She walked past me this morning." I accelerate out the lot, taking a left onto the road.

"That's not the point! The point is I need help! What did Steve do to make you fall for him—"

I hit the brakes, making him leap forward on purpose. My jaw clenches, until I hiss at him "Never talk about that."

"Got it," he immediately says, with a shaky voice. Feeling guilty about my sudden outburst, I apologize. "S'alright," he slurs his words.

"Hey, you're out of the house tomorrow, I don't care who you spend the night with after your trick-or-treating but you are not going to be there—"

"Ugh, you're so fucking bossy, it's my house too–"

"Woahh, language! That means another coin to the swear jar," I snap at him, "I thought you'd be happy to be with your friends and not have to clean the after party mess."

"I am!" Dustin's voices falter when he continues with, "it's just. Mike's been out of it so much, even more than usual, maybe it's because he hasn't seen her in a long time."

"Does he think she's you know...dead?" I ask cautiously, worried if I pushed his buttons.

"He doesn't like talking about her. It upsets him that she's not there I guess," he lifts up his hands in defeat.

I'll somehow find a way to the change where Dustin finds Dart, bare with me

I love writing chapters of parties, they're always so dramatic;)))

I kinda made Diana apart of the mystery gang (lol) from season 1 and I hope that detail of this story works out??
