Carrie stood alone in a parking lot, shivering in the cold morning air. She was trying to look for her boyfriend Jeremy, who was supposed to be at the parking lot but he was nowhere to be seen. Carrie felt annoyed. This was just like Jeremy, he was always late.
Finally after waiting several minutes, Carrie saw Jeremy's car coming downtown. The car was old and rusty, just like all the cars teenagers had seemed to be. The music was playing very loudly and Carrie felt so irritated for a while, hoping her boyfriend wouldn't always be so immature. In the back seat she saw two of her friends, Alice and Dave, laughing at something most likely very stupid.
"Hey baby!" Jeremy shouted while opening the door. He ran to Carrie like an excited puppy and kissed her on the cheeck. "Are you ready to go?"
"Where were you?" Carrie asked. "I've been waiting for ages, I'm freezing."
"I'm sorry, blame Alice. She had some clothing problem again."
"We're going camping, she doesn't need to care about her clothes", Carrie sighed.
"Yeah I know, but you know how Alice is like", Jeremy laughed a little. "Come on now baby, let's go."
Jeremy took Carrie's back and threw it in the back of the car. Carrie took the front seat next to Jeremy. Alice and Dave were having a very deep and meaningful converstation about cars that Carrie didn't want to join. She also knew that while driving, Jeremy didn't really like to talk, so she decided to start reading a book she took with her. She found it really hard to focus though and she stopped reading after a while. Instead, she looked out of the window. All she saw was trees after trees. They had left the city area and now they were in countryside. Carrie shivered. She didn't know if it was just because she was cold or did it have something to do with the atmosphere. She felt really uneasy.
"Jeremy, is this a good idea after all? Maybe we should just go back home."
"You can't be kidding me!" Jeremy said with a little bit of anger in his voice. "Nine people have disappered in this month and all of them were last seen near that forest. It can't be a coincidence. We need to find out what happened to them."
"Shouldn't we leave the investigations for the police? What can we even do?"
"We can try to find Chad."
Carrie's expression got sadder. "I know he was your best friend, but he was one of the first ones to disappear. I'm so sorry to tell you this but I don't think we'll find him."
"I know but we can try." Jeremy drove faster, with a silent tear rolling down on his cheeck.
Carrie felt sorry for making Jeremy upset, so she decided to shut up before making things even worse. It was only 8.30 in the morning so Carrie was tired. As she was looking outside the window, she couldn't keep herself awake. She fell asleep with her head on her shoulder, forehead almost touching the window.
