Morning came and we all woke up. An awkward silence filled the room.
"Well, what's for breakfast?" I finally say.
"I'll go look," Felix replies as he stands up to leave.
I thought of the dream last night. I heard voices in my sleep, faint and quiet but...
"Did you sleep well?" I say to Sean.
"....you could say that...." Sean replies.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"Well, I... I heard these voices. They seemed to be talking about you. It's stupid, I know, but it just sounded so real".
I looked down at the floor. " ....maybe it was real....." I half-whispered.
"What?" He looked at me. I did not look back.
"The voices.... I heard them too." I whispered, still starring at the floor.
"Really?" He asked.
"Yes." I looked up at him.
"We have to find Millie-Jo. The voices sound a bit like hers..." Sean said.
Felix hurriedly entered the room.
"Guys, we have to go...now..." Felix said.
We didn't bother asking why and started running. We eventually reached the place we were the day before and found a hiding spot.
"Now, explain what just happened and why we ran," I said, trying to catch my breath.
" Well, I was just eating my breakfast, and a guy turned up at my door in a millitry suit and told me that we must get out of here before they come."
"Before who come?"
"I don't know he just said they were coming to hunt us down."
"Oh, fuck no..." Sean says
"What?"
"I think they have found us. They've got guns."
We all got up and ran further into the forest until we couldn't recognise where we were.
"Millie-Jo? "Jack whispers.
".....huh?"
Just as he began to speak a figure approached us. She had long golden hair and a flowing white dress. She looked directly at us.
"Please...." the figure cried.
"Help me."
"Who are you? " I said.
"I'm ....Millie... Millie-Jo.."
We looked at each with shock. Millie comes closer to us until we realised something...
"You're not Millie," Felix blurted out.
I nudged him and whisper, "I know, but she could help us."
We look at her once again but she was sat on the floor, singing some repetitive nursery rhyme.
"...are you ok?" Sean asks.
She looked at us and said, "Come find me before they hide me. You are next unless you complete my request...
RUN."
We run again until we all got tired.
Then we all found a tree. It was a big oak tree with lots of branches.
"We could climb up this tree and sleep up there and nobody can find us." Sean said.
"Ok, I guess," I replied.
We all lay on a branch and fell asleep.
*two hours later*
I woke up to find I was all alone. I sat up, panicking, and looked down at the floor. Sean and Felix were sitting there by a campfire.
"Are you guys crazy? We're gonna get caught," I said, rubbing my eyes.
"It's fine," Felix stated blankly.
I ran up to the fire and started putting it out with my hoodie.
"Dude chill, they're not gonna find us," Felix said.
Sean ran up from behind me and held me back like he was going to apprehend me.
"Just put out the fire guys, I'm going back to sleep."
I turned around and climbed back up the tree. I pulled out a small piece of paper folded in my pocket and looked at it. It was an old photo of me and Millie.
"Hey," Sean says as he sat next to me on the branch.
"Did you put out the fire?" I asked.
"Yep. By the way, we're gonna find some food tommorow."
"Ok," I shivered at the cold breeze.
"Are you cold?" he asked.
"...a little..."
Liar. I was so cold. My fault for thowing my hoodie into the fire.
"Well that's what you get for thowing the hoodie in the fire," he giggled.
I punched him in the arm jokingly. He takes of his jacket and hands it to me.
"It will keep you warm," he says.
He got up and climbed back down the tree. I put the jacket over my sholder and fell asleep one again.
