Ch.4: Ambush

3rd Person P.O.V

Hiccup, the gang, and the new recruits and Dagur arrived at Dragon Island to begin their training.

Hiccup explained," Ok everybody, today we're working on our defense skills, in this exercise, we will go into groups of three or more riders who will try to protect themselves against the rider who plays the role of the dragon flyer firing at the others, got it?, Get into your groups."

5 minutes later....

Hiccup, Dakota, Dagur, and Snotlout were in a group with Snotlout playing the dragon flyer. Lakeisha, Astrid, Heather, Ivy, and Hannah were in a group with Hannah playing the dragon flyer. And last, Fishlegs, the twins, Coner, and Aliana were in a group with Coner playing the dragon flyer.

The three groups flew off to three different islands so that none of the groups would run into each other and mistake them for dragon flyers and attack. Hiccup's group flew to Tall Tree island, Astrid's group flew to Boar Head island, and Fishlegs' group flew to Thor Rock island. They agreed to meet up back at Berk.

Hiccup, Dakota, and Dagur flew around trying to hide so they could ambush Snotlout when he came. Hiccup said," Ok, remember our strategy of defense is to ambush any dragon flyer we fight, so we wait for Snotlout at this spot and hide, once he shows up, we ambush and take him out, you got it guys? Ok let's get ready.

After 30 minutes of waiting, the three came out of their hiding places. Dakota asked," Where's Snotlout he should have been here by now?" His question was answered when a fireball nearly hit the group. Hiccup screamed," REALLY SNOTLOUT ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL US FROM BEHIND?" Snotlout asked," What are you talking about, I'm right in front of you all?" They looked up and saw Snotlout in front of them like he said he was, Dakota asked," But if you're in front of us, who shot at us from behind?" Another fireball then came flying at them from behind and they immediately jumped out of the way. They looked up and saw the last thing they wanted to see, eight dragon flyers coming right at them, they were working on their ambush skills, but now they were the ones who had been ambushed.

Hiccup screamed," GUYS, GET ON YOUR DRAGONS AND SPLIT INTO TWO TEAMS AND DIVIDE THEIR FORCES SO THAT WE MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE!" Dagur and Dakota took off one way with two of the flyers chasing after them while Hiccup and Snotlout took off in another way being chased by the other six flyers.

Dagur asked," What do we do Dakota?" Dakota said," We need to get them to follow us into the clouds, we might be able to lose the flyers and then ambush them." Dagur nodded and the pair flew into the clouds with the flyers chasing after them. And just like Dakota said, they lost sight of the flyers. Dakota said," See now we just need to find them to ambush them." Dagur asked," But where are they?" The next thing that happened immediately answered his question.

Right after Dagur asked where the dragon flyers were, Dakota felt himself being ripped off of Flame, he looked up and realized that a Singetail had grabbed him. His eyes widened when he realized that one of the dragon flyers grabbed him. He screamed," DAGUR, I COULD USE A LITTLE HELP HERE IF YOU DON'T MIND!, FLAME, YOU GO FIND ASTRID AND THE OTHERS AND BRING THEM BACK HERE!" Dagur and Sleuther chased after the flyer that grabbed Dakota while Flame took off to go find the other groups and bring them back to where they were so they could help the two of them and Hiccup and Snotlout.

Two hours after the three groups split up, Astrid's and Fishlegs' groups landed in the academy, now they just had to wait for Hiccup's group to get back.

After an hour of waiting, Fishlegs said," Hiccup and the others should have been here by now." Astrid then asked," So why aren't they back?" Everyone then heard the screeching of a monstrous nightmare and saw Flame land in the academy without his rider. Tuffnut asked," Wait isn't that Dakota's dragon?" Ivy then said in a sarcastic voice," No, it's just a wild monstrous nightmare the same color as Flame with a saddle on it, yes it's his dragon you idiot!" Lakeisha then asked with worry," But if that's Flame, where's Dakota?" Then Hannah asked," And where's Hiccup, Snotlout, and Dagur?" Astrid said," Something must be wrong, get your dragons everyone, we're going to find them." The riders got on their dragons and left the academy to go find the four missing riders.

The riders arrived at Tall tree island and saw no sign of Hiccup or the other three from his group. Fishlegs asked," What do we do now?" Before anyone could answer they heard the very familiar screeching of a night fury. They looked up and saw Hiccup and Snotlout being chased by six dragon flyers. One shot a fireball at Toothless' prosthetic tail, Astrid screamed," HICCUP LOOK OUT, A FIREBALL' S GOING FOR TOOTHLESS' TAIL!" Hiccup heard Astrid and dodged the fireball. Astrid then said to the other riders," Ok, Everyone except Coner, Fishlegs, and the twins come with me to help Hiccup and Snotlout, Coner, Fishlegs, and the twins, you all go find Dakota and Dagur and help them!" Then the riders split up to do their parts.

Astrid and Heather flew at two of the flyers and had Stormfly and Windshear fire spikes at them. The two flyers dodged the spikes and flew off. Ivy, Hannah, Aliana, and Lakeisha shot fireballs at the other flyers to get their attention. When the flyers turned around to fight them, Hiccup and Snotlout attacked from behind, the leader of the group called off the attack and flew off. Astrid said," Hiccup, thank Thor you're all right!" Hiccup wasn't paying attention to what she said though, he was looking towards the direction the flyers took off in, his eyes widened and he said," Uh oh!" Astrid asked," What's wrong Hiccup?" Hiccup said," The direction they're going in is the direction Dakota and Dagur took off in being chased by two of the flyers, now they'll have all eight flyers attacking them." Lakeisha then said," That's also the direction Fishlegs, Coner, and the twins took off in, so they're all in trouble!" They all immediately took off to go save the others.

Fishlegs and his team were shocked by what they saw when they found Dakota and Dagur, they saw Dagur being chased by a dragon flyer while he chased after another one who had grabbed Dakota. Dakota screamed," PUT ME DOWN YOU SORRY EXCUSE FOR A DRAGON RIDER OR ELSE WHEN I GET FREE, I'M GOING TAKE YOUR HEAD OFF WITH MY AXE WHEN I GET IT!" Coner and Strider then attacked the dragon flyer that was chasing Dagur. Coner had Strider use his tail to hit the Singetail and scare it off. When the flyer flew away from fight for a moment, Dagur said," Thank you for the help guys but we still need to get Dakota back!" Dagur, Fishlegs, Coner, and the twins all took off after the flyer that had Dakota, but before they could fire at the flyer, they heard a bunch of roaring and turned around to see seven Singetails coming at them. Coner said," Dagur, you get Dakota, we'll try to hold these guys off!" Dagur nodded and took off again to get Dakota back. The flyers all came at once, Coner then screamed," EVERYBODY SCATTER AND SPLIT THEM UP!" The riders and their dragons all split up in different directions. Coner had 3 flyers chasing after him, the twins also had three flyers chasing after them, while Fishlegs had only one flyer chasing him.

Dagur was still chasing after the flyer that had Dakota. Dakota screamed," DAGUR CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME HERE, I WOULD LIKE TO LIVE?" Dagur screamed," HANG ON BUDDY I'M COMING! GET 'EM SLEUTHER!" Sleuther rammed into the Singetail, which dropped Dakota, Dakota fell through the air screaming until he felt himself land on something hard. He looked up to see his girlfriend looking at him. He asked," Lakeisha, is that you?" Lakeisha kissed him on the lips softly before saying," Yep it's me, are you ok?" Dakota said," I'm fine but Fishlegs, Coner, and the twins are in trouble!" Lakeisha said," Here you fly Violet then!" Dakota climbed onto Violet's saddle while Lakeisha put her arms around his waist. Dakota said to the other riders," Coner, Fishlegs, and the twins are in trouble, we need to help then!" They riders then took off to go save Fishlegs and the others.

When Dakota and the other riders found Fishlegs and his team, they were being chased by the other seven flyers. The riders all attacked the flyers and combined the strength of all of their dragons. The lead dragon flyer said to the other flyers," Fall back, there's too many of them!", and the flyers retreated being joined by the other flyer they had defeated. Astrid then asked Hiccup," So what happened?" Hiccup, Dakota, Dagur, and Snotlout all said at the same time," It's a long story." Hiccup then said," We'll tell you all back at Berk." The riders then all flew off in the direction of Berk.
