James and Lily and some of their diary entries throughout the years

Year 1

September 1971

Lily:

Dear Diary,

Hogwarts is amazing! This place has ghosts, talking paintings, and I first thought the ceiling of the Great Hall was missing because I COULD SEE STARS AND CLOUDS! Sev later told me it was enchanted. Isn't magic just so cool? I wish Tuney were here to see this.

I got sorted into Gryffindor! I was a little sad that Sev got sorted into a different house (Slytherin), but I'll still see him in classes. One bad thing about being Gryffindor: the two boys who bullied Sev on the train are in my house too. James, the one with glasses, and his friend Serious (why is he named after an adjective?) threw food at Sev during the feast. Why are they such idiots? I hope I don't have any classes with them.

James:

HOUSE OF THE BRAVE, HERE I COME! On the train, I met Sirius. I know he's a Black, but he's still a pretty cool bloke. He's a Gryffindor too. He's going to be my new best friend. There's also Lily Evans, saw her on the train too, hanging out with Snivellus. Why are they friends? Sirius said I had a crush on Evans. He's wrong. I DO NOT HAVE A CRUSH ON EVANS! I DON'T LIKE LILY!
