I woke up slightly dazed, rubbing my eyes and looking around it suddenly came back to me... Ethan I can hear his voice now ...wait.. what? "She's still asleep!" I heard him arguing with someone.. "She is my daughter and she's been gone for a week I have a right to see her!" I heard my mother argue back.Slipping out of bed I went to his door and opened it. Immediately they stop arguing and look at me. My mother wraps me in a big hug.. but I know she is just making a show for Ethan, sighing I hugher back lightly. "I missed you." She says aloud but in my ear she whispers "you're in so much trouble." I release her and step back and Ethan clears his throat. "Well.. As you can see she is okay. So I think maybe she should just go back to sleep and she can come home later." Nodding I agree with Ethan. The last thing I want is to be with my mom. I know she won't let me off easy for not coming home.
Later I was laying on the couch watching TV when Ethan walked in. He sat on the foot of the couch and rested his hand on my legs. "Vivienne. There is something I need to tell you.." he started and before I could reply he quickly moved on. "I know about your mom and.. well.. everything. I know everything." He grabbed my arm and turned it looking at my wrist full of bracelets." I gasped and tried to pull my arm back but his grip tightened. I could feel tears in my eyes. "How long have you known? Why didn't you say anything?" I asked. "I didn't know how..but thats one of the reasons I wouldn't let her take you home today. I don't know if you realize this Vivienne.. but you're birthday is in one week and you'll be eighteen. I plan to keep you here till then... safe.. I mean if that is alright with you..." He looked at me waiting for an answer. I was speechless... "Y-yes.." was all I could manage.
