Jess's P.O.V
"Zo didn't you say you were going to have a baby at thirty?"
I can hear Alfie's loud sigh from the other room as he realises what we're talking about.
"Yeah and who knows that might still be happening"
Zoe looks up from her laptop screen, smiling at me cheekily.
"You pregnant?!"
She lets out a loud laugh, smiling down at Ladeo that's sprawled out on my lap alseep.
"No but I must admit I've got a lot more broody since he came along"
I look down at my son, his pink skin and rosy cheeks making him very cute.
"What are you talking about?"
Alfie trots down the stairs and joins us in the conservatory, his laptop under his arm as he sits down on the sofa.
"What do you think gorgeous"
Zoe smirks over at her boyfriend who just rolls his eyes at us. Alfie had always been the one who killed the whole kid dream that Zoe had had for the last like five years. Altough it was understandable as he was a lot younger than both Zoe, me and Conor.
"You two are literally impossible, like I can't even leave you for a minute before the baby talk start"
I chuckle, moving Ladeo over to his carrier that's stood next to me on the floor.
"Nala"
The black pug stops as she hears Zoe's voice and I smile as the dog sit down to have a proper look at the weird and rather tiny human.
"Is it hard with you know, Leonelle and stuff. Sibling rivalry?"
Alfie shuffle closer so that he can have a look himself, a smile growing on his lips as he looks down at Ladeo.
"Actually not really, she loves just helping and holding him but I know it'll get tougher as he grows older. Luckily they're a few years apart so hopefully that'll make it a bit easier"
Zoe nods, bending down to pick Nala up from the floor.
"I just remember how much Joe and I used to argue when we were younger. You and Poppy must've been the same Alf"
I feel myself slowly drifting away from the conversation, my tired mind playing with me once again.
Having a newborn had definitely not enhanced my already quite bad sleeping pattern.
.........
I wake up a couple of hours later underneath a cosy blanket that I assume Zoe covered me up with as I fell asleep.
That's when my brain catch up with the fact that Ladeo isn't in his carrier anymore and I instantly start to panic.
"Zo!?"
"Don't worry I've got him"
I let out a sigh of relief as I spot my son in the arms of my friend, his eyes now open as he investigates the new place.
"He started to get fussy and I didn't want to wake you up. He's changed and cuddled but I assume he's a bit hungry and unfortunately that's the one thing I can't do"
Opening up my arms does she hand him over to me, her cold rosegold bracelet making me shiver as it touches my bare arm.
I know it's the one that Alfie got her quite a long time ago, it's a so called love bracelet and I remember her telling me about it not too long ago. I remember that I felt jealous over it because Conor would never do such a thing, he isn't romantic as Alfie and even though I love him blooming much would it be nice to get something once in a while.
