My gun was empty, I had fired all the bullets.

“I need some more rounds over here!” I hollered back to my comrades. I was the farthest ahead of all of them, they had all backed away from the coming enemy.

“We’re out of ammo too! Just get back here!”

I dropped my rifle, taking my 9-millimeter from my belt. As I fired, I slowly backed away.

I stopped and went behind a trashcan. My comrades were backing away even further.

“Where are the reinforcements!?” I yelled.

“They should be here in about an hour! We’re gonna regroup back at the central barracks!” Dan says.

The sound of bullets being fired was deafening, and if people were still in the houses we were near, they would be deafened too.

Just as I extended my hand past the trashcan to fire at the enemy, a bullet grazed my hand. I clutched it in my hands trying to stop the bleeding.

I saw a white flare, and then it all went black.

“Hey Dan! turn up the music will’ ya?”

Dan rolled his eyes and went to the old radio sitting on the table in the middle of the Barracks. The music slowly became to increase in volume.

“What was that?” I asked as I stood up holding my gun that I was cleaning.

“It sounded like an automatic weapon” Dan said.

“You two, stay here. I’ll go and look.” said Greg as he slowly walked out the door.

Single gunshots began to erupt, and then it all went silent.

“Greg?” I called out. I slowly began to open the door and peeked my head out.

As I looked around outside, I saw nothing out of the ordinary, everything looked fine.

But as I closed the door, I heard a deafening roar from above.

“What is that!?” Dan asked covering his ears.

I threw the door open and stared into the black night sky above. There were five, maybe six airplanes circling above the city. As they circled, they dropped huge shining crates down on the buildings below, which became nothing more than rubble in a matter of seconds. The were bombing the city.

I dashed back inside as the bombs fell near the Barracks.

“They’re bombing the city!” I told Dan.

“Who?”

“I dunno, but they must be Imperialists. Not happy with the Union.”

“You think so?”

“Why else would they attack this state rather than Omega? They want the President dead!”

*This is the Colonel! Boys! Get all the forces you can gather and rendezvous at the South exit! The rebels are trying to get tanks into the city!*

“We’ll be right there!” Dan hollered at the Radio from which the Colonel was talking “Is the President alright?”

*Yes, he’s fine! Now hurry!*

We ran to all the bunkers and Barracks around and gathered troops and weapons. After we had done that, we all made our way to the South exit.

“This is unreal!” Dan yelled as I drove towards the South exit in a Jeep. “How could we not know about an attack this large? How did we not see it coming? Shouldn’t Congress have known? Now thanks to them, the President will die, and the Union will fall.”
