-20 million years from now-

Someone scrapes my shoulder. I whip my head around, but no one is there. I try to sleep again, but someone jerks my tail. Leaping to my feet, I hiss, but again, no one is there. After trying to find who ever had bothered me, I gave up, and went back to sleep. I dream about many different shapes swirling around me. The shapes form something that looks like a cross between what we learn in history class, called dogs, and cats.

We had history class for so long, I can't even remember when I didn't have history class.  Just a few days ago, Mr.Clodag, my history teacher, was talking about how a long time ago, there were things that were called humans and looked similar to us. Apparently, we evolved from them, and we grew tails and claws like a cats'. We also grew long hair all over our bodies. I could almost imagine a creature standing on two legs walking around wearing pieces of cloth. It's really weird how they have these long skinny things with smooth round nails at the end of their front paws instead of round curved paws with fur and sharp, retractable claws. Our toes are a longer than those of a cat, enabling us to hold objects easily in out paws. We also have sharp teeth and excellent hearing, night vision and smell. Our tongues are also barbed like a cat's. I seriously think we evolved more from cats than humans, but Mr.Clodag insists that we evolved from humans.

I leap up high into the air as someone jumps onto my back. Sharp claws dig into my back as I try to wriggle out of the creatures' strong grip. I catch a glance at the thing attacking me, and I realize it's my brother, Cabirg.

"Cabirg! Get off of me! You're such a pain!" I complain.

"Sasha's a wimp! Sahsa's a wimp!" He sang as he stepped off of me. "Haven't you realized what time it is?” He asked, and without waiting for a reply, he said, "It's sun high already! Sleepy head Sasha, you're going to be late for lunch!"

"I was in the middle of sleeping!" I complained, "Wait! It's sun high already?"

"Yup!" Cabirg ran off into the Alarm Trees.

"Darn." I was supposed to meet my best friend Millie in the YellowForest. I stretched out my muscles and found some left over breakfast on the trees. Then, I ran off to find Millie.

"There you are! I was looking for you! I almost went to your tree to look for you!" Millie exclaimed when I erupted at top speed into the YellowForest. Millie and I named this place the YellowForest because it's one part of the forest that has these big yellow pine trees that are said to be very rare. There was a cave at the end of the YellowForest. That's where we were going to explore today.

"Come on! Let's go." I said, but Millie just stood there staring into the cave. "Hello?" I asked as I waved my tail in front of Millie’s face.

"Sorry. I thought I saw something move in the cave." She finally replied.

"Whatever. It's probably just a bat or something."

"No. It was really big! It looked like some type of Cradisle or something."

"A Cradisle? Is that those big furry things with horns on their heads?"

"Yeah. They're actually just a myth, but that seemed pretty real to me." Millie explained.

"Let's just go already." I offered.

"Okay." Millie hesitantly replied.

"What? You're afraid a big hairy monster is going to pop out of nowhere?" I teased.

"No! I'm going in before you!" Millie cried as she charged inside ahead of me. I ran after Millie and wondered if she really did see the Cradisle. As we entered the cave, a deep chill ran up my spine. Millie slowed to a walk and her tail quivered with each step. There were flying creatures all over the place and the roof of the cave was so low, we could feel it grazing across the top of our backs. The flying creatures were amazing fliers and they often zoomed past my head, barely missing the roof by a fur-length! There were also snakes on the cold ground. A big one crawled up my leg and I shook it off, but banged my head on the ceiling.

"Uh, Millie, should we get out of here? It gives me the creeps." My voice came out all shaky.

"Now who's chicken?" I could see Millie’s bright green eyes staring at me. I knew my blue eyes were probably wide with fright, but I refused to back down.

"It's just sort of cold… Never mind. Let's go." When the cave got really narrow, I started to regret coming in. The sides were squeezing my shoulders, and it was so dark, even my cat like eyes couldn't see a thing. Suddenly, Millie stopped and I almost crashed into her. "What is it?" I ask tentatively.

"Something is in front of us! Its eyes are glowing bright red!" Millie cried. "It's coming towards us!" I couldn't tell if she was lying or telling the truth and I couldn't see anything in front of her thanks to the walls. Her voice was shaking though, so I believed her.
