>Alaska<

Newt had been being weird, like he wanted to be sure I didn't know. It didn't matter though. I was 100% sure newt and I couldn't work. But he was my best friend, and I didn't want to hurt him so I kept faking.

I was pretty sure I wasn't really well enough to be going on this mission, I was sore and stiff and tired, although most my wounds were healed for the most part. My ribs were still healing, but they were set and didn't hurt too bad.

Now we sat on a ship, heading for Alaska. I was deep in thought, wondering why wicked would've sent immunes to Alaska. Wondering if it was anything like I remembered, when newts voice was small, but in my ear.

"Do you think I'll ever see them again?" He mumbled. My brows furrows. Who was he talking about? I thought to myself in confusion. And then I remembered.

Them.

The ones from the maze. I sighed, looking at him. "I don't know," I mumbled. He nodded, and looked away from me, sadness all over his face. I sighed and unbuckled, standing and moving to sit in his lap. I held one of his hands, and fidgeted with his fingers. I let my face rest on his shoulder and I felt his free arm wrap around me. "I don't know, but you're my best friend and you aren't going to lose me," I mumbled. He nodded, his blonde hair tickling my face.

"Thanks," he mumbled. I love you... The words echoed in my head and I gulped, closing my eyes.

>newt<

A couple hours later Alaska was still asleep in my lap as we landed, her soft purr snore filling my ears. I jerked her up, and she immediately woke up and stood. We had to make a long hike to find where the immunes were, and this was a dangerous place. I was glad jaxx and ratchet were here as well as Alaska. They were the closest thing I had to home.

We exited the ship, where ratchet met us at the bottom, tossing packs to us.

"Were thinking between one and three days, so use rations, be careful. If you get separated, don't panic, move forward. We are going to be okay," ratchet told us. And the. We turned. The mountains were tall, sky blue, the world around us was buzzing with life, greenery and birds surrounded us.

I gulped looking at a wide eyed Alaska.

"Just like when I left it," she whispered, stepping towards the wood and rubbing her fingers on some cool leaves, a big smile splattered to her face.

Everyone in the group looked awed. We'd all thought places like this had been ruined completely. And now we were witnessing it first hand. I fought the urge to sit there and stare and ran, catching up with Alaska. I laced our fingers and she shook with excitement.

"Let's go find some immunes," she whispered.
