Alyssa (POV)
As I played outside, I saw the van pull up. I thought it was the moving company, but it wasn't. It was him. My step father. He had sexually abused me for the past 5 years and no one knew,except for my friend, Luke.
I got a text saying that my mom was out for the night. I ran inside and put as many layers of clothing on as possible because I knew if I did anything else he would hurt me, bad. I was glad mom had taken my 7 year old sister with her. I didn't want this happening to her, too.
He came through the door and went straight to my room,but I had a plan. I packed a small bag with food and water and climbed out of my window. I called Luke and told him that my step dad was at my house. I told him I snuck out of my window before he could reach me.
Luke met up with me at my favorite place: my secret fort in the woods. He said to call the police or my mom. I was too scared, and he did it for me. All of the sudden I heard footsteps coming towards us.
