I sat around the campfire, tired, hungry and dirty. It's been days since we were lost in that storm, and we haven't seen our parents since. And I say "we" because aside from myself, Kaylee, there was little sister, Vanessa; and my younger cousin, Magnolia. I'm 14, but Vanessa is 9 and little Maggie is 6.

As I was saying, yeah. Tired. Dirty. Hungry. Maggie had her head in my lap, somehow drifting to sleep. I glance at Vanessa, her wavy hair tangled and dirt-streaked. I sigh and wonder how long it'll take to get home. Or how long it'll take before we die off.

But let me back up. This story needs a real beginning.

Just warning, you, though- it's not your average tale.
