Whether it was out of pure curiosity or pure boredom I didn't know, but I was about to summon a demon. Lucifer had always interested me... plus... I might have a list of shitty people that could really use a good ol' fashioned demon beat down.

Thanks to my questionably satanic friend whom was kind enough to lend me his "demon ritual and summoning for dummies" book, one which I wasn't even all that positive would work, I was now sitting on my bedroom floor - book in one hand and a few sticks of incense in the other.

"Okay," I exhaled the breath I had been holding as I scanned over the pentagram I so sloppily drew out on my carpet with red crayola marker. "I'm just going to say the phrase and... probably go to bed. No worries, a demon isn't going to grab my feet while I sleep, why? Because this isn't real, it's for fun- it's just a bunch of weird fucking Satanic something or others... or is it Wicken?"

I shook my head at the fact that I was talking to myself. I had clearly already fallen off the deep end and landed in crazy town - that or I was just trying to stall, because deep down there was a slim possibility that this could work, wasn't there?

Taking another deep breath I finally began reading the fine text from the summoning book. It was Latin, of course it was Latin, and of course I didn't have the slightest idea how to pronounce any of it.

Taking a deep breath I tried to speak as confidently as I could.

"A-attenrobendum... eos,
ad ligandum.. eos,
potiter eos,
c-coram ...me."

Wow, okay, I sure did butcher that one.

Grimacing a bit and moving to stand I couldn't help but feel a tad disappointed when nothing happened. No explosion of smoke or burst of flames or even a little red glow. I stood there in my dark room in complete silence for a few minutes before shuffling to turn on my light.

"Alas, tis a fake," I exclaimed with a huff, tossing the book to the side of my room thoughtlessly before collapsing onto my bed.

Well, I wasn't exactly expecting much, but still, my heart sank a little.

I felt a yawn coming on, my eyes fluttering in a measly struggle to stay awake. A sudden weight seemed to have been lowered on top of me.

Ah, well, I have been working pretty hard lately to pay off my student loans, and rent, and every other fucking bill on the planet

Living alone as a student was hard work. It took me forever to finally escape from dorm and roommate hell, I was sure I deserved a bit of rest.

Finally I decided to give in, shutting my eyes and drifting off in a matter of seconds.

I couldn't remember if I had dreamt anything in the night, but I woke up feeling an uneasy twinge in the bottom of my stomach.

A nightmare?

Maybe... I could only recall a... guy, with small black horns sticking out of and blending in with messy ebony locks, and a tail with a pointed end to match. I chuckled to myself.

"Hm, all this demon stuff must be getting to my head-"

"Oi!" An unknown voice exclaimed.

Hm?

Was someone calling to me?

I smacked my lips and stretched my arms high above my head. Sitting up I scanned the interior of my room with tired eyes. There wasn't anybody in sight... clearly, I lived alone, but I could have sworn I heard something just then, was my mind playing tricks on me this early in the morning?
