Melody's P.O.V.

"So, who's the new kid?" Hannah asks as she pulls into the academy carpark.

"His name is Lachlan. He's quite shy, though very cute. We're meeting him at the front gates." I smile. "I have a feeling he's going to get along with our weirdness perfectly." I exit Hannah's car and head towards the gates. I would tell you the type of car it is, but unfortunately, I'm clueless when it comes to cars. I only know Hondas, but only because I always see their commercials. All I can tell you is that Hannah's car is red... with four wheels... and four doors... Okay, that description fits over a million cars. Never mind.

"He sounds awesome." Hannah says. "Hey, maybe if you two get close, you two can get together," she teases while wiggling her eyebrows. I send her a glare, though she just laughs. "Oh, come on. You did say he was cute after all." I roll my eyes and she laughs. "Let's go meet this mystery guy, so you can hurry up and get love in your life." Hannah giggles. I fake a smile, though sadness drowns my body. Don't think about it Melody.

Hannah and I wait for Lachlan in silence. I glance at her from the corner of my eye. Her hazel eyes are watching the distance and her fingers are twisting her light blonde locks. She only does that when she's in deep thought. I wonder what's her mind.

A throat being cleared behind me startles me and I turn around. Shy brown eyes meet my gaze. A smile spreads across my face. "Hey Lachlan," I greet. His light brown hair is hanging down over his forehead, and a shy smile sits on his face. He's wearing a black T-shirt with black and purple shorts that end just above his knees. Okay, he's really cute, hot even, but all I want is to be his friend. Nothing more.

"Hey," Lachlan smiles. His eyes then dart to Hannah.

"Lachlan, this is my best friend Hannah," I introduce. They smile at each other and say a few words of greeting. Suddenly, Hannah is swept into the arms of Tim Gray.

"Hello beautiful," Tim smiles.

Hannah blushes. "Hey," she mumbles.

Tim's eyes fall on Lachlan, and something flashes within them. Jealousy... Wait, he's jealous just because she was smiling and greeting another guy. Wow, the male race, unbelievable.

"Who's this?" Tim asks in a calm matter, gesturing to Lachlan. He's pretty good at hiding his jealousy... he could make a good actor.

"Hey. I'm Lachlan. I'm new here." He smiles, yet he looks kind of intimidated by Tim.

"Nice to meet you Lachlan, I'm Tim. I hope you like the academy." Tim smiles at Lachlan. He then smirks at me. "Now, if you don't mind Melody, I'd like to take away your best friend for a bit."

"Go ahead," I mumble. I watch a giggling Hannah walk away with Tim.

I set my gaze on Lachlan and notice he is staring at me shyly. Him being shy is extremely cute. He reminds me of a lost puppy. "Want to get that tour of the academy? We still have plenty of time before classes start." I give him a friendly smile. He smiles and nods his heads. Happiness fills my body. I love making new friends. "Awesome. Follow me." I show him the academy's oval, gym, library, art room, science labs, language classes, cafeteria, computer labs and all the other classes he should know about before coming to a halt in front of the administration building.

"Have you gotten your timetable yet?" I ask.

"No, I haven't." Lachlan replies.

Walking into the building, I gesture for him to follow. "Just go to the counter and ask for your timetable." I smile.
