Her First Love (Chapter 6)

  It was a good thing that the bookstore was not too far away from where Christine lived, or else she would have been extremely late for what she believed to be a book reading from a new author. At 2:05 pm Christine opened the door of the bookstore and got the biggest surprise of her life. There stood Christopher in a white suit with a dozen roses in his hand, a glass of champagne was on the table and there was a man with a violin playing Lady in red. Christine could not believe her eyes. It was the most romantic thing that she had ever seen, it was just like the love scene in her new book.

Christopher was speechless when he saw Christine walk through the bookstore door. Never had he seen anything or anyone so beautiful in all his life. Christopher walked over to Christine and gave her the roses. Please, come sit down, he said with a smile. I know that we got off on the wrong foot so I thought that I would try to make it up to you. I hope that you like champagne and caviar. I do like champagne but as for the caviar I do not know, I have never had it before, she said.Thank you so very much for all the flowers that you sent they really are beautiful, and this here as well, just what I dreamed of. I have never seen anything so beautiful in all my life and very romantic, I do say so myself.

You dear are very beautiful yourself. This setting is nothing compared to your beauty. Your mother and father must be so proud of you. How many beauty pageants have you won 10, 20? I must say that your beauty has me almost speechless. So shall we start dinner? Would you like some caviar and champagne? Or I can have the chef make something to your liking.

 Christine was not sure what to say. She never in all her wildest dreams ever imagined that anything like this could ever happen to her. She had never had caviar before but decided that since Christopher had gone through so much trouble to get it that she would at least give it a try.

This place has turned into a beautiful place and what you have done with it is amazing. How did you do all this and how did you know that I would except your invitation? she asked. As for turning this place into something beautiful it already was and as for the invitation I wasn't sure, I just took a gamble that you would be interested, Christopher answered.

You have really outdone yourself, Christopher. I really did not expect my secret admirer to be you. Well, I figured that if you knew it was me that wanted to go on a date with you then you would turn me down flat like you did at the beach. Speaking of the beach, I do apologize for my rudeness she said. No harm was done. Why don't we let bygones be bygones and forget about it and start over? Yes, I think that that would be a great ideal. Let's just forget that it ever happened.

As the night went on Christine and Christopher got to know each other. Before they knew it the night was gone and the dawn began to break through the clouds.Christine learned a lot about Christopher that night. She learned that they both had a lot in common, like going to the beach, reading love stories and old, rare books. They both loved long walks in the meadows too. Before she knew it Christine was sure that this was the man that she had been searching for all her life.

Christopher was as sure as Christine was about who he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. This woman, this simple beauty of a woman, the rose among roses, this was she that his heart longed for. What was he going to do? How could he tell the love of his life that he was to marry another at the end of the moon cycle? That left him only 28 days to set things in motion and tell Christine the truth about who he was.

The truth, did Christopher even know what that word was any more and what it meant? How can he start a new relationship with a lie? He must somehow gather enough courage to tell Christine the truth, that he was a prince and betrothed to marry another.
