-Chapter 6-
Cade stopped to wait for me. We had been walking for a while, I was tired and apparently too far behind.
"You walk really slowly," Cade groaned, smirking. I raised a brow, walking up beside him.
"You still haven't told me where we're going." I pointed out. Cade smiled.
"Won't be long now," was all he told me before he started off again. I sighed, and walked off with him.
He had been right, it hadnt taken long to finally arrive. The place he had taken me to was just outside of the small Vengeance town. It was a beautiful, very large hill with a very sheer, very long drop off of a cliff. From here, you could see the whole town, and long beyond.
Cade took a seat right on the edge, his legs dangling off. Just seeing this made me sick to my stomach.
"Why dont you sit?" He asked me, his face bearing a sly smirk. The day was sunny and bright, bringing out the mysterious beauty of his strange, blue eyes. My eyes widened at his question. Reluctant to sit anywhere near that damned sheer drop, I sat sown, legs crossed, about a meter from the edge. Cade rolled his eyes with a smile.
"So.... What did you wanna talk to me about?" I asked, curious. Cade sighed a little.
"Jess, this is big stuff..... You sure you're ready?" He asked, reaching out and taking my hand. I nodded, my eyes never leaving his.
"Watch who you trust.... Better yet, trust next to no one." He said softly as though someone may hear. My brow furrowed slightly.
"Go on..." I whispered. Cade sighed.
"I shouldnt be telling you this, Jessica. But you're one of the best fighters that the Vengeance complex has ever seen..... and you need to know. You deserve to know. Vengeance, the whole lot of us, is in SERIOUS danger. There's a group.... trying to infiltrate us. They're within the complex walls and if we're not careful, they'll tear the whole structer of Bloodthirsty, Vengeance and Hunted apart, piece by piece. They're powerful, Jessica. And they're hidden. No one knows who or where they are and the majorrity of the Vengeance thinks they're a myth. You need to know that they arent, and you need to be safe. Be careful. If something were to happen to you... if you were to be killed.... captured.... I...." He trailedd off and I could see him biting the inside of his lip, could see him almost tearing up at even the thought of something happened to me.
With that in consideration my head started to spin. Woah.... Cade.... You dont seriously like me, do you? I knew that he didnt. Didnt like me.... And that was because he was dangerously close to loving me. Oh shit. Oh holy shit. Oh for the love of god Cade. Please dont do this to me.
With my hand still in his, he squeezed it gently.
"Promise me something," He whispered, his breath soft against the skin of my ear. All I could manage was a nod.
"Promise me you'll stay safe. Try and keep yourself protected.... trust almost no one.... but promise you wont lose trust in me." Cade added, and moved back to lock his eyes on mine. I swallowed once.
"I promise." I told him honestly.
"Good," He told me with a nod, then moved slowly. With his actions, I lay back against the ground nad he leaned over me. The next thing I knew, his lips were on mine.
The feeling was weird, but oh so nice at the same time. Damn could he ever kiss a girl... and my eyes slipped shut. I smiled against his lips before i realized that what I was doing, what we were doing, was completely and utterly wrong! It took all my will to pull away, and even then I didnt want to. I sighed gently.
"Nikolai." I reminded him in a soft voice. Cade sighed and nodded, sitting up.
"Yeah. Nik. I know. I'm sorry Jess." He apologized. I hugged him softly.
"No worries.... Just.... I'm faithful to him... okay? Let's let that be a one time thing." I pleaded, my green eyes sparkling with both guilt and craving. That had been amazing and who am I to say I didnt want more?
With that thought I almost outright slapped myself.... Almost.
"Got it. Thanks, Jessica. And hey... I'll see you at the funeral, right?"
"Yeah."
"Okay. Good talk." 'Cade finished, patting my back, and before I knew it, he had vanished. The damned boy.... using his powers like a lazy ass.
With an annoyed groan, I stood, and started off towards the Vengeance complex... That is if i knew where i was going.... Which I really didnt. Shit.
