Prologue:
We all have a favorite celebrity that we admire or who’s career we follow or keep track of. Well it’s one thing to crush on them from afar and quite another to meet them; to their lifestyle, and begin a relationship with them. What Kate didn’t realize heading out with her girlfriends that Friday night, is that’s exactly what was going to happen to her.
Kate had always admired Dean Massey, a gorgeous and talented actor that starred in one of her favorite television drama series, but she never imagined actually getting the chance to meet him in person.
Meeting Dean was the chance of a lifetime and starting a whirlwind relationship with him seemed too good to be true. It would all seem perfect until someone from Dean’s past would try and ruin their bourgeoning relationship and have Kate questioning whether she wanted to be a part of his life at all.
Would Dean and Kate be able to keep the past where it belonged and strive for a life together? Would this certain someone from Dean’s past keep them from the love they have both been waiting for?
Chapter One
It's pretty much all a blur now, but going out with my friends that Friday night, six months ago, was the best thing I could have ever done and it changed my life in ways I could have never imagined...
I was hesitant to go out with my friends, for drinks and tried to beg them off. I tried to make up any old excuse to stay home, but I styled my wavy brown hair, put on some make-up, strapped on my big-girl shoes and headed out. My best friend, Tawny, wouldn't tell me specifically where we were going but she promised it would get me out of my post-divorce funk.
"You'll have a good time, I promise trust me. Just get yourself ready and come over." she said.
I had been happily married to Jonathan for 12 years only to be blindsided when he told me he wanted a divorce after meeting someone at his office. I really never saw it coming. I never thought he'd ever do that to me, to us. We had already been through so much in our time together, worked through other things and still managed to come out on top. This was a huge blow.
In the days that followed my divorce, I was getting used to being on my own again, splitting time with our two boys, and going back to work as a nurse. I had stayed home with our kids, for 11 years, and now was thrust back into the daily grind to make a living. Being out of work for so long was like never having worked as a nurse before. I had to start right back at the bottom rung of the ladder and, it wasn't easy proving myself to my co-workers. Life was definitely different and had become really stressful for me in such short amount of time.
All I really wanted to do, that Friday eveningwas crawl into a ball, on my bed, and stay in all weekend. It was my first weekend off in months and all I wanted to do was sleep and sulk. Tawny wasn't having that. She called me Friday morning, while I was on my way home from my night shift, told me we were going out for drinks and she wasn't taking 'No' for an answer. There was no point in debating the issue. I knew she was worried about me, all my friends and family had been, about my current state of affairs. And, it sounded like she had a fun night planned out for us, so who was I to say no. It was a chance for me to let off some steam anyway, right?
I got home around eight thirty in the morning, pulled off my work scrubs and took a quick shower to wash away the long night. It felt great. I put on my favorite Steelers t-shirt, set the alarm for four, and went to sleep. The boys were with Jonathan from Thursday afternoon, so I could sleep straight through, today.
