Finally its here!
Chapter 10
I flew out of bed this morning because today is my first practice with the RM women’s team. After putting my new training uniform and making sure I looked presentable, I ran downstairs. I greeted both Sergio and Pilar with a kiss before sitting down and putting back my breakfast. When I was finished I looked up to see Pilar laughing at me,
“What? Is there something on my face?”
I said sitting back in my chair, She continued to laugh and say in between giggles,
“No sweetheart you just ate that really fast. Are you excited for your practice?”
I laughed and I took a moment to think instead of just saying yes. I was but boy has my life changed in such a short time. I don’t regret moving here and leaving what I had behind but it wasn’t easy. Though I made the choice pretty quickly I had good reason. The parents that raised me never treated me like I was theirs, they always favored my sister. I couldn’t ever think of a good reason why but I always thought I just wasn’t as pretty or smart and that was the only reason. It all makes sense now, but when I met my biological family I had a sense of belonging and I felt that they loved me more in 16 minutes than they loved me in 16 years. I knew that if I came here I would be better off and I would lead a life of fun, soccer, and family. Something that I hold very close to my heart, being here allows all of those things to be a reality. The town I was raised in was only there to hold me back. Pilar raised an eyebrow at me because of how long it was taking me to respond to her.
“Sorry, but yes I’m really excited for it!”
I responded with a smile, its true I am excited to meet my team and work all of them and continue to get better. Sergio came back it to the kitchen and asked me if I was ready to go, I nodded and kissed Pilar and we headed out the door to his Audi. We spend down the road and as we got closer to my grounds I got more and more nervous. Sergio so how sensing that I was becoming unnerved looked down at me and said,
“Isa you’re going to be fine, don’t worry. Besides you have nothing to worry about.”
I listened to him and I didn’t feel quite so bad anymore. We pulled up and I asked Sergio to stay in the car so I wouldn’t draw more attention to myself. Which was impossible because everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at me as I made way towards them. I went and introduced myself to the coaches and they told me to go meet the team and start warming up. I walked over to the rest of the team, and began introducing myself one by one. Everyone seemed really nice and generally glad to meet me. Well that was until I got to the last girl and co captain...
"Hi I'm Isabella!"
I said happily while outstretching my hand for her to shake. She looked down at it and snickered as if I was crazy for even thinking she would shake my hand.
"Well well well you must be ms. Hot shot Ramos. And the girl who is always to the tabloids for dating Luca..."
She sneered in the most condescending voice that's humanly possible. To say the least I was taken back, and I looked around for reassurance from anyone that would lend it to me. Three other girl that looked about the same age as me looked at me and have me some comfort. One named Lucia came over to me and stood next to me before she said,
"Carmen can't you just be nice for once you know once Katia gets here she isn't going to like you being mean to her. And besides you don't know anything about her."
I appreciated her attempted but it was no use, Carmen wasn't don't yet.
"You know little Ramos you can't just BE on this team you have to EARN it. And I don't think you have. Now just because you're related to Sergio doesn't mean you're any good. Now go prove it!"
She screamed in my face. With that i was off and running showing off my skills and working with teh rest of the team. To say the least I proved her worng, that what i love to do. I don't want to getin a fight but I will out do someone. After I the practice, I went over to talk to the captain, Emily. She felt bad for Carmen beingso harsh on the first day, but she explained that her and I play the same postion and thats mainly why she lauched a verbal attack on me."Is it always going to be that way, I mean we're a team we'll have to learn to get along at some point."
I said hoping that she would say yes but of course not.
"No she won't get better but you can just try to avoid her and her and Luca, they umm well they had a thing a few years ago and she's totally hung up on him."
She informed me, it all makes sense that makes alot of sense. I thanked Emily and said my goodbyes before jumping into Sergio's car. As we drove home and he asked me how it all went I told him everything but I couldn't get over the fact that Luca and Carmen had something. I just couldn't get over what a gross fact that is. Once we got home and I talked to Pilar and she gave me good advice.
"Don't worry about her honey, all you have to do is just be better than her. And try to not talk about Luca around her. Try to relate, if you were her you would not like that either."
She couldnt be more right, but I still was thinking about asking her if I could talk to Luca about it. I mean I didnt want to sound annoying and jealous but I also thinl its worth bringing up.
" Should I talk to Luca about it?"
I asked, she thought about it for a second and said that it wouldn't hurt to ask. With that I whipped my phone out and texted him,
"Can you tell me anything about Carmen Perez?"
