I wake up in a small confined space. As my eyes adjust to the eerie darkness around me I see strange wires that are attached to my limbs connecting to the walls around me. I crane my neck looked around what seemed to be the inside of a capsule. My entire body is stiff as if I had been sleeping for a very long time. Little screens are plastered along the internal walls of the capsule. I bent over to see the screens more closely but just as I moved, the screens lit up, illuminating the darkness inside the capsule. Encrypted code ran across the screen before a blocky writing came up.

I rubbed my eyes thinking I had read it wrong but I hadn't. It was right there. I had been in this god forsaken capsule for 100 years. Everything must be so different now. What about the rest of my family? I had to get out of here. I ripped the wires off my limbs and partially stood up from the 100 degree slanted angle. I kicked at the heavy steel door with all my might but it wouldn't budge. I kicked even harder and the door moved an inch. I grunted as I kicked as hard I could and the door finally burst of it's hinges.
"cough cough!" I covered my mouth as dust flew around everywhere.
Everything around me were in ruins and tatters. There were dozens of other capsules. I peeked into the window of the on next to me and quickly turned away. Something told me that they had not been as fortunate as me.I kept walking until the end of the corridor. There was a staircase leading upstairs. I started up it but suddenly I felt something grab my leg. I turned around to see the rotting hand of a corpse on my ankle. I screamed and kicked it's hand until it loosened and continued sprinting up the stairs.
"Unnnnraaaaaaaagh." The corpse let out a low pitched moan.
I ignored it and continued up the stairs. But ran into another corpse.
"Gah!" I punched it square in the face and jumped over it's unconscious body. Ahead of me, I could see an elevator.
"Graaagh!" I looked behind me and saw one, no, two, no three corpses gaining on me.
I stumbled over a metal rod and kept running, the zombies were even closer now I could hear their labored breathing.
I was nearing the elevator but the zombies were also catching up. The lead corpse tried to grab the back of my shirt. I dove for the floor of the elevator and quickly pressed the close door button. The steel doors closed just as one of the corpses reached their hand in, severing it.
"Whew... " I breathed a sigh of relief as the elevator slowly ascended.
"Now Exiting the facility." A feminine robotic voice announced.
I took a deep breath and readied myself.
The heavy, steel doors slowly slid open as I stepped out into the light for the first time in 100 years.

At first I couldn't see anything. Everything was too bright. The sun covered everything with its blinding rays of heat. When my eyes adjusted, what I saw was both beautiful and sad both at the same time. What was beautiful was that for the first time in the world above. I hadn't seen it for so long but now I was back. What was sad was that all the trees were barren and everything was in ruins, as if this wasn't already enough of a the Walking Dead cliche. Surrounding me was a small town ruined tattered houses were scattered all around the barren wasteland. I decided to search around for supplies in case I came face to face with more of those zombies again.
I check the house right across the street from me. The door was shut tight. I took several steps backwards and charged at the door and shoulder rammed it. The door came down with a ear rending crash! I cringed and looked around me to make sure that the noise didn't attract any zombies. When I was sure the coast was clear, I slowly crept into the house. I stepped over the door and a fallen coat rack. Blood stained the walls and floor which wasn't too reassuring. There was a black daypack lying on the bloodstained carpet a few feet away from me, its contents spilling out. I rushed over and picked it up. It contained a couple of chocolate bars, a "Cup noodles" pack, a container of hot water, a thermos and a knife. I grabbed it and slung it over my back. I strapped the knife to my belt and continued upstairs. Upstairs I saw used bullets strewn all over the ground. I walked into the family bedroom. More blood covered the walls. I knelt on my hands and knees and looked under the bed. There was a locked chest. I looked around. There had to be a key somewhere! I felt around on the soft plush rug until I felt something under the carpet. I lifted up the rug and underneath was a small box. I opened up the box and inside was a small silver key. I rushed back over to the chest under the bed and slid the key into the keyhole. It twisted with perfect ease. The lock fell to the ground with a soft thud. I lifted the heavy lid off and laid it on the ground. My eyes widened as I look in the chest. Inside was a AG-3, a black battle rifle and an OBREZ, a musket like semi weapon, (I picked up a lot from playing fps's.) along with a large ammo reserve. I lifted them out of the chest and put the ammo in a small carry pouch also included in the chest. I held onto the guns, the obrez slung behind my back. Also included in the chest was a fire axe. I strapped it onto my belt alongside my knife. I looked outside the window, it was starting to get dark. It was too dangerous to go outside so I decided to stay in the house for the night. I trudged into the garage and grabbed a drill, a hammer and a couple of nails. I boarded up all of the windows and doors with wood planks I found also lying in the garage.
After finishing my work, I poured some hot water into the Cup noodles container. I hadn't realized how hungry I was until I was staring at the empty container wishing there was more. No Kito, you need to save your food! A little voice in my voice told me. I threw the container into the recycling bin and trudged over to the couch as soon as I sat down I heard a loud bang on the boarded door. I jumped up and quickly dashed to the door and looked through the peephole. My eye was met by another one, red and glowing.
"Aaaah!" I stumbled backwards right onto my bum fumbling my AG-3. I hear another bang and then crash! One of the boards fell to the ground. I could see the zombies hands through the empty space where the used to be.
I quickly regain my senses and open fire on the zombies. Their hands curl back in protest. I hear another bang and then crash! All the boards fall to the ground. The zombies start to advance. I fire more rounds at the zombies. One by one they fall to the ground like rocks. But I soon run out of ammo. I back up into a wall. It would take way too long to reload then I remember the OBREZ. I fire it once, twice, the zombies start falling again but there still were too many and I run out of ammo again. I draw my knife and stab one through the head. It falls to the ground. I grab my knife and pull it out of the zombie. There were still too many. I hack a way through the seemingly endless swarms of zombies with my knife. I run into the bathroom and lock myself inside. I had bought myself a bit of time. I had to get out of this house. I drew my axe and swung it at the wall as hard as I could. I swung again and again until there was a small hole in the wall. I could feel the zombies pushing against the door. I dove through the hole. I stood up and ran and didn't look back. While I had the time, I reloaded the AG-3 and the OBREZ. I could see the first rays of morning sunshine. I flopped to the ground panting. I was exhausted. I crawled over to a minivan parked on the side of the rode. I smashed the axe with my knife and unlocked it from the inside and then climbed in. I slammed the door shut and conked out.
