"Why didn't you prepare a witness beforehand?" I groaned as we walked down the steps of the Marriage Registry.
"I didn't know we needed witnesses," he sighed. "It's not like I've been married before nor have I been able to discuss this with anyone I know who has."
"So what now?"
"He gave us an hour to find a witness. We'll quickly call a friend and then we can--" he stopped speaking as his eyes landed on a couple across the street. "I think I just found our witnesses," he said before he ran across the street and interrupted the happy looking couple sitting in a little cafe.
I didn't know what he had said, but the girl jumped from excitement and pulled at her boyfriend's sleeve. Her boyfriend smiled at her before saying something to the golden haired dumpling. The three walked towards me with large smiles on their faces.
"I found our witnesses!" my soon to be husband said with a large grin on his face. The two introduced themselves as River and Azra.
"Nice to meet you," Azra said with a large grin.
I smiled at her, feeling too awkward to really speak. I wasn't good with people and this person looked to be the literally the opposite of me. She looked so prim and proper and so happy. It was weird.
"I can't believe you're getting married," her boyfriend said. "I always thought Issa would be the first to get married," he said with a laugh referring to who I assumed was a neutral friend of both of them. Daniel joined in and the two began talking together about people I had no idea of.
"It's so weird seeing him with his friends," Azra said to me as the boys continued to converse. "I mean, I always thought I was his only friend but it turns out he's quite popular at school..." she trailed off. She suddenly turned to me and smiled.
"By the way, congratulations! I don't know you but I'm really happy for you!" she chirped.
"Thanks."
"This is the first time I'm being a witness for anyone's wedding. I'm so excited," she laughed. "Oh oh, does this mean I also get to be a godparent of your future children?"
My eyes widened and I almost choked on my own saliva but the girl still continued to speak as if I wasn't dying right beside her or anything. She even said that I should name my "love child" after her and only after her boyfriend pulled her into his arms did she stop speaking. Well that was for a short minute anyway. After she finished looking up at her boyfriend all lovingly, she turned back towards me while still managing to stay in his arm.
"His fans are going to go wild!" she said as she pointed at my soon to be husband. "I received like a million death glares just because I started dating River. Fortunately no one is actually doing anything harmful but I think I'm the most hated female in the school right now," she laughed. "I'll happily hand over the title to you!"
Fans? I internally scoffed. He was just a regular student. Why the hell would he have fans? I looked him up and down and did have to admit he was quite good looking. But this was real life and he was no celebrity.
"So how did you two meet?" she suddenly asked me. I turned to Daniel who somehow still seemed to be busy chatting with his friend.
"I don't know," I answered. She looked really confused.
