Just starting the book off with the truth:
My life isn't so interesting.
Yep. You heard it. More like read it. Those words won't be going anywhere. Heh. So! If you guys haven't read "Get To Know The Authors," you may not know that I live in Mount Vernon, New York. You might have heard bad things about the students there. Or the people in general. But it's not the whole city! Just specific people that do horrible things.
Anyways, I live in that small town. I go to a school called A.B. Davis. It's a pretty big school compared to the others around. Four floors, and the classes are based on the grades you get in a I-Ready test. So, you have to do really good so you can get into the advanced classes. The A and B teams are filled with the smarter students, while the C and D team are filled with the idiots. Seventh and eighth grade have that system in the school. Each team has different teachers. I only know the people on the A team and the people on the B team. Those in the C and D team I don't even have lunch with them.
Anyways, I'm on the A team and I have lunch with the A and B students. I have eight classes in total and lunch for me is at 10:30 am. Pretty early, isn't it? I wouldn't consider it lunch. After you ate or if you just didn't want to eat, you could go outside to the courtyard. It's a track field that people walk and a few basketball courts. Inside the track field is a fenced football field. We can't enter it at the moment, but it'll probably open soon enough.
Right now, I'm freezing my butt off. It's too cold. And I'm in a t-shirt and shorts. Smart thinking, Layla.
I know, right?
I had to choose and outfit for tomorrow to impress a special someone. Well, it's not to IMPRESS, but it's just to look good in front of him and others. My way to impress is jeans or sweatpants and a hoodie. I look good in the comfortable clothing. Well, at least that's my personal opinion. The guy I like is on the B Team, so I don't have any classes with him. So whenever we have lunch or when we're switching classes, I always get a glance of him. I get a glance whenever I get a chance.
I usually hang around him with some friends, but I don't really talk to him. I have a friend named Andrea, who I always hang out with. It's usually Brian, Yanelis, Vivianna, Suzy, Elizabeth, David and Sem, which is the name of the guy that I like. Today, there was this knocked down tree and Mariana, Brian, Sem and I were balancing on it. We were playing around with it, trying to roll it around. It was fun while it lasted.
I have an annoying 6th grade brother named Alejandro, which, as expected, was on his phone when I arrived home. It's always like this. And the dog screams when I get home. Literally. It sounds like someone is hitting or torturing her. It's every time when someone she is really close too, such as my best friend. I remember her coming over and the dog would also scream.
Sometimes, I wish I was born as a stone. So I wouldn't have to do anything. I wish I was a stone so I could lay there, unbothered. I don't want to be smooth stone next to the water, because people skip rocks and I would be the perfect rock to skip.
The chapters in this book are gonna be short, since my life is not so exciting. Updates here won't happen very often. Comment suggestions on what I should write about myself next. Such as my relationships with friends and family or the type of stuff I'm into. Have a great day guys!
Love,
Layla <3
