Chain Reaction (On Hold)

Chapter IX

"I will." Said a guys voice. Kelly turned around. And when she did, she was frozen for a while, she didn't  know how to react. Even their other friends were in shock.

"K-K-Ken??" She stuttered when she recovered from the shock.

"Yes. I'm Ken. Excuse me." He said and went to Ana, gently carried her in his arms. "Bakit kasi andami mong ininom." He told Ana who was unconscious.  He carried her as if she was a fragile doll. He was very careful.

"Did she bring her car?" He asked them. Nobody was answering

"Oh-uh. Yeah, she did. The keys are in here." Kelly gave him Ana's bag. He was about to walk out when Russel stopped him.

"Please, take care of her." Russel said with concern.

"I will. Excuse me." He said without even looking at him. He felt pissed with the guy. Tss. Ba't kasama pa nila yun. Kainis, tapos pipigilan pa ako. He thought. He just brushed the thought off and went to his car. Placed Ana in the front seat. Which caused Ana to wake up. She smiled at Ken.

"O-oh my gosh. Y-you look like my husband." Di na lang pinansin ni Ken natawa siya sa reaction ng asawa.

He was driving  when suddenly..

"Saan ko ba ihahatid 'to? Does she still live there?" He told himself. But he still decided to bring her to their house.

When he got there, the gates were closed. He got out of the car and went to the gate. When suddenly it opened.

"Ken! Hijo! Ikaw ba iyan?" It was Manang Sita, who was really surprised at the sight of Ken.

"Ah, opo. Buksan ko lang po yung gate."

"Ay! Teka, hijo. Nakita mo ba si Ana? Di pa kasi nauwi, nag-aalala na ako. Lapitin pa naman ng pahamak iyon." Manag Sita said worriedly.

"Nandoon po siya sa kotse." And Ken went on to open the gate.

Manang wasn't able to react, she was shocked, how could they be together, and she's also shocked about the fact that Ken's there.

"Ay! Jusko. Anong nangyari sa batang yan." Nag-aalalang sabi ni Manang Sita when she saw Ana unconscious and being carried by Ken.

"Napadami po yung inom. Nakita ko po sa bar kanina." Mahinahong sagot ni Ken.

"Tsk tsk. Napapadalas na pag-inom ni Ana. Sige, i-akyat mo na siya sa kwarto niyo."

Ken was stopped by that. She still sleeps there. He thought.

He carried her all the way to the room. He didn't even had a hard time, she was too light. He gently laid her down on the bed.

He was about to go out when he heard Ana called his name.

He went to her, sat on the floor so he could look at her beautiful face.

"K-Ken, please don't go." She said in a very weak voice. And e tear dropped from her closed eyes. Ken wiped her tears away.

"Silly, why are you sleep talking." He said while smiling.

"K-ken." She said in a fading voice and then another tear fell.

"Shhh. I'm here." He said and wiped her tears again. He felt bad for his wife, never had he seen his wife cry. She's always been so strong. But right now, she's very vulnerable.

When he was sure that Ana was in deep sleep he went out of the room.

"Oh, hijo. Magkape ka muna." Manag told him when she saw him. She was holding a cup of coffee. Ken went to the living room, Manang Sita followed him and placed the coffee on the center table.

"Thank you po." He said.

"Uhm, Manang sabi niyo po napapadalas pag-inom niya? Bakit naman po?"

"Ah, iyon ba hijo? E pa'no naman kasi, naabutan ko nung Sabado nakahandusay dyan sa sahig, nagkalat yung bubog nung bote at baso. Ewan ko dyan. Nag-aalala na nga ako."

"P-po? Bakit po may mga bubog? Di naman po siya nasugatan?" He can't help but worry.

"Hindi naman hijo. Ewan ko ba dyan. At saka nako! Iyang bata na yan. Hindi ko nakikitang kumakain. Ayan. Ka-payat. Tsk." Natuwa si Manang sa pinakitang pag-aalala ni Ken, naisip niyang may pake pa pala ito sa asawa.

"PO? Bakit niyo naman nasabi?" Gulat na sabi ni Ken.

"Wala naman kasing laman ang ref niya. Tubig lamang. Ang mga cabinet naman, hindi nagagalaw ang pagkain." Nag-aalalang sabi ni Manang.

"Ganun po ba. Ano ba yan." That's what all he managed to say.

"Alam mo Hijo, sana mapangiti mo ulit yang si Ana. Nakaka-miss kasi yung dating saya niya. Ibang iba na ngayon." Manang Sita truthfully said.

"I-I don't know how to do that and I can't promise I can do that. Anyway, ako na po bahala sakaniya. Baka po napupuyat na po kayo. Ako na rin po maghuhugas nito." He calmly said.

"Osige hijo. Bukas nang maaga ako uuwi ha. Dahil tatlong beses sa isang linggo lang naman ako nandito."

"Sige po. Good night po." Said Ken and had a sip of coffee.

Manang was smiling victoriously. Sinadya niya talagang sabihin iyon kay Ken para maawa ito sa asawa, what she said was all true. She just wanted to let Ken see what happened to his wife ever since he left. And by the way he reacted, she was certain that Ken still cares for Ana.

Ken was left there in the living room. He looked around him. The house looked different. It looks livelier than what he remembers. Thumbs up to Ana for taking good care of the house. But he was bothered by what Manang said. She doesn't eat? What the heck? What is she trying to do?! That's why she's so skinny. And what he doesn't like the most is the fact the she gets herself drunk. What has gotten into her? He was pissed off. It's not clear with whom. He was pissed with Ana because she's not taking care of herself. He is pissed with himself even more because maybe he's the reason why she's doing those to herself.

That's it, he made up his mind. He's going to take care of his wife. But not because there's anything else. But because she looks pathetic. Yes. That's the reason. He's trying to convince himself that she's his responsibility. And nothing else. He can't feel anything else again towards the person who hurt him and destroyed his trust. He's just being cautious he thought.
