I met a guy named Jake  when I was 6 and he was 7 He didn't talk much cause he was a very shy person and didn't like people. I met him on the 4th of July downtown while the fireworks began he was standing right beside me and he's the one who started talking first

"That ones pretty" He said. I was a bit startled by his voice and it did sound different than mine

"Yeah, that's my favorite color blue" I smiled at him he looked very amused by the different colors that were in the sky like he hasn't seen fireworks before

"Have you seen fireworks? before" I question him hoping my mom didn't hear me she would always say talking to strangers wasn't cool and that I shouln't say hi to anyone unless I knew them and that was hard for me because I loved talking to people, I was just a friendly person

"No, whenever I heard these noises I would always get scared so I would close my curtains and lock the doors I never knew how pretty they were until my brother said there was nothing to be afraid of"

"What about your mom? didn't she take you anywhere?"

"She did, Yeah. but that's before she died that's why I don't like these noise and sometimes I would get panic attacks but they haven't happened in awhile, I guess I'm fine"

"Oh" I honestly didn't know what to say since I was only 6  and had no clue what panic attacks were

"What is a panic attack" I asked the boy that was standing beside me

"Well, the only thing I know is that you can't breathe and you start crying but that only last for 10-20 minutes but it could last up to an hour sometimes" He explains

He kept talking and talking he also talked about how his dad left him at the age of 5 he didn't really understand the things that were happening until his mom made it clear that his dad wasn't coming back. He also talked about his home town and how he missed his friends back at Australia he said he really likes where he is now but wishes he could go back and spend time with his friends. Then he started talking about his brother and how he loved him. Jake said that his brother is caring and doesn't talk about his mom around him because Jake was close to his mom and whenever his brother started talking about him he'd start crying

All these things he went threw and he was only 7, it felt like I was friends with this boy and he wasn't a stranger

"Tris" My mom said to me as I turned around to her and I knew she over heard me talking to the boy

"I told you not to talk to strangers "

"he's not a stranger he's my friend"

"Well say bye to your friend cause it's getting late and it's time for bed"

I frowned at her and looked at the little boy who was still in awe from the fireworks

"I have to go now.." I say to him and he pouts

"Aw, well it was fun talking to you..bye" He waved at me and I waved back

A few weeks later someone was moving into the the house beside mine , I was now 7 years old by that time and I knew what was happening

"Mom look there are people moving into that house " My mom strutted over to me and looked out the window

"Yeah, Maybe you could make some new friends" as I was getting older my mom wanted me to make friends, Especially at school it was nice knowing that I wouldn't have to hear 'Tris don't talk to strangers' everytime someone said hi or whenever I wanted to say hi.

I put my white convers that were at the front door, My mom bought them for my 7th birthday and a few other things I never really had a dad I grew up without one I guess, my mom didn't like talking about it

I unlocked the front door stepping out seeing a little boy that looked a lot like jake

"Hey, I feel like I saw you before " The little boy said with a soccer ball in his hand

"Me too" I took a long look at the boy that was in front of me and I knew it was him

"Your Jake! remember me? Tris "

"Right!  The one at that firework thing it's been awhile"

"Yeah it has" I nod as he continues to kick the soccer ball around

"want to play?" He questions me

"I don't like soccer" I shrug

"Oh, well I have to go bye" He waves at me running back to his house. it was nice talking to Jake again I still remember all of the things he told me..

I run back inside slipping off my shoes and jumping on the couch deciding to watch spongebob until supper

It was now 8:40 and it wasn't dark outside since it was summer here and I liked it when it wasn't dark because when it's dark scary things come out

I heard a knock on my door but my mom was quick to answer it she didn't like when I answered the door when she wasn't around because she thinks I would get stolen.

"Tris it's Jake" I hop of the chair almost knocking over my dish that was on the table.  I was very excited to see Jake because he always had exciting things to share and he was a good friend

"Hi" He said smiling he was wearing his Pajamas and I tried my best not to laugh at him it would be rude

"Hello" I let out a small giggle and he looked down at his Spiderman slippers. It was hard for me not to laugh at this

"Laugh all you want but first come with me" he drags me outside and I close the front door he also noticed that I didn't have shoes on and my feet were starting to get wet because of the sprinklers that were on earlier

"Why are we out here?" I question him as he spreads his Spiderman blanket on the grass. I hope he knows it's going to get wet soon but I'm Sure he wouldn't care

"I dunno, I just wanted to talk" He giggles fixing his dark brown hair pushing it out of his face I always told him to get a hair cut but he never listened to me and he told me that his mom wanted him to get a hair cut too but he hid in his closet and refused to come out

"Oh" I loved when he wanted to talk because he always had interesting stories to tell

"Are we friends?" He asked raising an eyebrow

"Yeah, I guess" I shrug

"Promise?" He sticks out his pinky finger

"Promise"

and when we pinky promised
