Chapter Eleven: This Is Ridiculous |✔"Torn between crying for help, and not letting them see me sweat
But it's certain shit I can't forget"
Valentine's Day // Kehlani
After a long day at work, I entered our house, I was met with silence as I began to walk through. The kids hadn't been spending much time in the house lately, guess they've been too busy with their own lives now. I wanted to let them be free they were eighteen after all but they were still my babies. Sometimes I wish they would want to spend time with me, but I don't want to force them to be around me. I made it towards the kitchen when I saw Victoria. Her legs crossed, dressed to the nines as usual, "Why are you so dressed up?" I ask her as I place my purse on the kitchen table.
"We are going to the coffee shop, you know Busy Bean Cafe, wanna come?" She said her red lipstick going into a smirk, I could tell she was planning something. She had that mischievous glint in her eyes as if she was waiting to let something out.
"Who's we?" I asked her as I sat down, and just as I did, in came Oliver. If Oliver was going then that means something good has to come out of this. Oliver was one of the nicest people I knew. His aura just radiated positive energy. His lengthy blonde hair was pulled into a half-up half-down, and the color scheme of his clothes matched up with Victoria's, "Oh you guys are going on a date, I wouldn't want to intrude."
"Intrude?" Oliver asked, Victoria rolled her eyes at him. He looked down at his clothes and then at what Victoria was wearing. She was wearing a black t-shirt, a caramel brown leather trench coat, and plaid brown pants. Her shoes were black and leather bringing the entire outfit together. Oliver had on the same outfit except his shoes were black dress shoes, and he had just placed a black Panama hat on, "Oh she always matches us, it's like her thing," he laughed a little, "Anyways we are just going for coffee nothing special. It's not a date, the house is just always eerily quiet during the weekends, especially on Sundays."
"Do you want to come or not?" Victoria butted in not letting Oliver get another word out. I just nodded and picked up my purse.
Victoria stood walking past me. For some reason Victoria would be nice to me, inviting me out, and helping me around the house, and then as soon as Oliver even glanced my way it changed. It's as if she's scared I'll do the same thing to her that she did to me, and try to take Oliver from her. I wasn't even interested in Oliver in that way, yeah he was a good friend, but I just couldn't see him that way. I saw him as more of a buddy, and quite frankly it would be sad to take Victoria's leftovers once again.
Getting out of the car and heading into the small coffee shop we sat near a window facing where Victoria parked. The entire coffee shop was more of a diner vibe, there were booths instead of chairs, checkered floors, and a jukebox. The booth we chose was a U shape and we sat in a corner, I sat facing the door, Oliver in the middle, and Victoria sat with her back towards the door. I never felt comfortable having my back to doors, it makes me uncomfortable when I can't see what's whos coming in places.
Oliver spoke first, "I haven't been in Busy Bean for a while, do I go up there to order or do they come over?"
"Don't be dumb. You go up there and order, they assign you a waitress and they bring your order and continue to wait on you from there." Victoria said, turning her nose up at him. The small stuff like that is what irritates me about her, he was making conversation and she was being rude. He was probably going to ignore it and then ask what we wanted.
He smiled, "What do you guys want, I was looking at the menu and they have almost everything Starbucks has. I know Victoria likes the Matcha Tea Latte, what about you Lynna?"
"Lynna? Damn, we give nicknames now?" Victoria comments. I bit my tongue just to keep quiet because I didn't want to go off on her in this coffee shop.
"Anyways, I want a caramel frappuccino. Thank you, Ollie." I say eyeing Victoria down.
He gets up and heads to the counter.
"Since when are you and my man buddies?" Victoria says I guess this was her way of making conversation.
"Since when do you care?" I scoffed at her, "Why did you bring me here? Be serious any other day you would have just seen me come in and ignored me. What is it?"
"I don't have any ulterior motives Lynna I just wanted coffee." She says rolling her eyes.
I sat quiet, I could sense the lies coming out of her mouth. She was trying to feed me lies. Oliver came back over this time Victoria moved to the middle and Oliver sat on the edge. "Why are you guys so quiet?" He placed his clear-coated fingernails on the table, tapping them.
"No reason," Victoria says.
"She thinks we have a thing for each other," I say my voice remaining bland.
He laughs looking back over at her, "Baby come on, Lynna - Rosalynna is like a sister to me, I'd never do that to you."
Victoria shifts in her seat uncomfortably, "I don't think you have a thing for each other. My man is not a cheater." She says smiling my way, "I said I didn't know you two were besties now. That's what I said, I wouldn't have set up a double date for us if I thought otherwise."
I laughed, she knew what she was doing, "You set up a date to be fake in my face, I never liked you, and never will a little date won't change that."
She scrunches up her nose, "You liked me enough to believe Ricardo would cheat though huh?"
"You guys you don't need to do this right now, it's early we can just get our coffee maybe you need some energy or something," Ollie says trying not to have a repeat dinner catastrophe.
"Shut up Oliver." She says now her eyes were on me, "You just can't accept the fact that our dinner would have gone well, I would have done something to contribute to this life we live if you hadn't brought your bitchy attitude with you and left that shit at the door where it belonged. It didn't help you brought Jaxon, a man who beat your ass senselessly and is supposedly changed to be a beautiful wedding planner. Good for him, but you have to be in control of everything right? Including ruining your own marriage."
The waitress comes bringing our drinks, "Bitch, you're the ruining my marriage your ass should be under your sister's grave rotting." The waitress doesn't even ask if we need anything she scurries away as fast as she can.
"Oh, you want to go there?" Victoria says, "How did you get your husband again? Oh, yeah you got him because he's a fucking cheater whose head was stuck between my legs every time you left the house. Do you think that man loves you?" She rolls her eyes, "You have got to be Ludacris, the way you get them is the way you lose them. He's been cheating since he got that ring on your little hand, ask Oliver."
Oliver shakes his head, "Vicky."
"No don't do that Oliver, this bitch wants to play with me let me play with her, your old high school buddy, Alexandria Tyk has been fucking your man. You might want to get that together before you try to ever come for me." I went silent staring at the table, "Oh you're sil-" Smack. My hand went flying hitting Victoria with a swift backhand. Oliver gasps as Victoria tries to grab her Matcha Tea Latte to pour it on me, I move before she can douse me in her drink.
I pick up my Caramel Frappacino leaving the booth, "Now whose silent bitch."
Then I walked out.
