Chapter Twelve: She's Having My Baby |✔
"Having my baby
What a lovely way of saying
How much you love me."
You're Having My Baby // Paul Anka/Glee Version"Rosa?" I asked entering our room. It seemed as though everyone had left the house already. I had just made it home from a business deal. I walked past everyone's room seeing if there were anyone I could bother for a few minutes.
I stopped at Ansel's door, his door was cracked and I could hear him moving about. It was a rare sight; Ansel was usually the first to be gone during the weekends, always chasing the next adventure or party. So, I was surprised he was even home. My curiosity got the best of me as I pushed his door open cautiously, the wood protesting with a soft creak.
As the door inched open, a sight I didn't expect greeted my eyes. Ansel, typically out partying and having the time of his life, was now sitting on the edge of his bed, meticulously folding delicate baby clothes. The room, once filled with posters of rock bands and remnants of unforgettable nights, was now transformed into a haven of tenderness, baby clothes neatly arranged in rows on the bedspread.
I couldn't help but feel a jolt of confusion and concern. It was as if I'd entered an alternate reality where Ansel's free-spirited nature had given way to a newfound responsibility that no one had anticipated. My surprise was palpable as I stood in the doorway, watching in silence.
I suppressed the shout my throat wanted to let out, I quietly shut the door behind me just in case the others came home early, my curiosity mounting, "Ansel, why do you have baby clothes? Is someone having a baby?"
He turned towards me, "What? Oh uh, my friend, she's having a baby."
"She's having a baby or your baby?" I asked my voice a mix of concern and confusion. I had so many questions for my son, he never was into shopping let alone babies. He was repulsed by the sound of, "condom" coming from his mother's mouth and for some reason, I could see why he didn't like the topic.
"Uh." He paused as he continued his folding.
"Be honest. I'm not going to get mad at you, I just need you to be honest."
"She's having my baby." He said, I could see he was about to start tearing up.
"Who is she?" I ask trying not to ask him too much to where he will close up on me and not answer any other questions I may have.
The room felt strangely heavy, the air thick with unspoken emotions as Ansel hesitantly disclosed the news. His voice, a mix of apprehension and concern, wavered in the dimly lit room, casting long shadows on the walls. I could sense his struggle, torn between loyalty to his partner and the weight of this clandestine knowledge.
