This is set around the time that Alison got released from prison. It starts with the girls at her front door wanting forgiveness.

The small group of four stand outside the huge Dilaurentis household. All four sets of eyes are set on the wooden door. They had been standing like this for about five minutes now, no one wanting to make the first move. Spencer finally rolls her eyes.
"Guys this is stupid just knock on the door" she sighs while crossing her arms over her chest. Every girl makes slight eye contact but still, nobody budges. The blonde looks up at Spencer and quickly looks down at the cold ground once she sees her brown eyes already looking at her.
"Han? Can you do it?" Spencer asked quietly.
"No, why can't you?" Hanna asks back. "You said if I did your English homework you would do anything for me" the brunette fires back.
As Hanna opens her mouth to try and delay Spencer asking her to knock on the door, Aria grunts and lightly knocks on the large door.
After around thirty seconds of silence, shuffling is heard from inside the house. Less than five seconds later, the door creaks open and a sleepy looking Alison Dilaurentis is before her four ex-best friends. She doesn't say a word. "Hi Ali" Spencer says so quietly, she doesn't think anyone heard it.
"No" is all Alison says.
"What?"
"My name is Alison, not Ali" she says to Spencer angrily.
Spencer shrinks a little bit, not expecting to snap at her so quickly.
"C-can we come in?" Aria asks now, her eyes not able to meet Alison's.
"Why? So you can question me further? So you can plant more fake evidence? Are the police out there with you, hoping I'll slip up?" She snaps again.
It's now Aria's turn to shrink, she lowers her head and doesn't speak.
"Alison we are here to apologize-" Hanna starts, but she is cut off.
"Good for you, but I am quite tired actually so, goodbye" and as she is about to slam the door, a body is stopping the door from moving.
"Wait" is all the brunette says, and for the first time in three months, Emily see's Alison's eyes again. They are different. Once, they were the color of the sea ( Emily's favorite color ) but now, they are a pale shade of grey. Her breath hitches in her throat at the sight, but Alison doesn't flinch.
"If you would just hear us ou-" but before Emily could finish her sentence, Alison cuts her off.
"I don't want to here you out. Don't you get that? You four literally barricaded me from escaping from all of this. You guys made my life even worse than it already was. So no, I don't want to hear any more pathetic excuses." Alison whisper-shouts and she attempts to close the door again, only to be blocked by Emily.
Her heart is clenching in her chest and her soft brown eyes are flooding with tears.
"Please Al-" and yet again, before she can finish her sentence, Alison speaks.
"No Emily. I already know what you are each going to say."
Emily still looks at her as her heart is breaking.
"Brainiac over here, you didn't really think it all out did you? Or did you do it on purpose so you could just get rid of me and my problems? Have it back as things were. When I was gone, you remember what you want to about me. Good or bad. Or you could blame me for everything bad that has happened in your life." She breathes out.
"Emily, I don't know why I thought while I was in that place, maybe she will phone. Maybe she will come again like she promised. So I am sorry. I'm sorry I thought you were different" she finishes.
The other three girls shift uncomfortably, knowing that they shouldn't be listening to this right now. Emily's eyes released the first tear and Alison finally closed the door. The sound of the lock clicking into place set Emily into hysterical crying and banging on the door. Shouting apologies and muffled words her friends can't make out. Hanna picks her off the ground and the small group make their way to the Hastings household.
Spencer turns back one last time and she sees the curtains of Alison's window close and the lights shut off.
