YOUNG Jen picked the small dandelion from
her backyard as she hummed a song from a movie she was watching not too long ago. Jen began to sing quietly as she picked another dandelion from the yard, "I saw my baby, crying hard as babe could cry", she sang as she collected another 2 dandelions. Her long straight brown hair fell over her face as she picked another dandelion. The slide glass door suddenly opened from the house, this caused Jen to stand up and look behind her.
Her mother smiled at her as she leaned against the house, "Are we skipping your birthday dinner tonight? Or are we going?", she asked curiously.
Jen gasped in realization, "don't worry mom! I'm coming!", she shouted as she ran into the house.
"What do you got there sweetie?", her mother asked.
"Flowers for you mommy", the little girl smiled as she passed the small dandelions over to her mother.
"You're so sweet Jen", she smiled, as she took the dandelions and placed them in a plastic cup with water.
"Let's go to roadhouse", Jen said opening the front door.
"Oh my, this girl", her mother chuckled.Jen and her mother sat in the booth in the restaurant as they shared a large ice cream sundae, "I want to be a model when I grow up", Jen said out of the blue.
"A model? I thought you wanted to be a photographer. Why the sudden change?", her mother asked as she set her spoon down.
"I want to do both", Jen replied, taking another bite of the sundae, "I love taking pictures, and I love to wear clothes", the little girl giggled.
Her mother sighed sadly, "the girls you see in magazines, aren't how they look in real life", she tried to explain.
"I know, that's why I want to be a model. I want to be able to show the real me", Jen smiled before spooning up a glob of chocolate syrup and putting it in her mouth.
"You're so innocent", her mother said to herself as she watched her daughter eat her ice cream full of joy, "I hope that never changes", she whispered with a smile. How did I do for the first chapter?
