Only the Beginning

"Would you care to go to the dance with me?" Raniel asks.

"Sure, why not?" Replied Faye.

That's where it all began. It was already obvious. They were MADE for each other. Things didn't go too well with their friends at school, however. They were teased, shipped, and annoyed. They made it look like they were denying it, but it was clear that they had feelings for one another and they didn't mind it at all.

"Does this suit make me look fat?" Raniel questioned. The day finally came. They would share their first dance together. They made it look like they were the only ones there, dancing, with Raniel's hands on Faye's waist and her hands on his shoulders. Faye began to rest her head on Raniel's shoulders and everyone in the room "awwed" and they didn't even notice. It was nothing but romantic. The end of the slow song came, and they stared at each other. It wasn't long until they closed their eyes, and their lips touched and they touched for a long time, a rough estimate of 5 billion years. No, but really, it was long. Raniel dipped Faye as they kissed and it was the sweetest thing ever.

As Raniel dropped Faye off at her house afterward, she let Raniel in as well.

"I'm sorry I kissed you, I overstepped my boundaries." Raniel said.

"Why would you need to be sorry for that? It was really sweet of you, no matter what our schoolmates say." Faye replied back.

As Raniel was about to leave the house, Faye turned around and yelled: "Wait!" She ran up to him and they began to kiss again. Only this time, it was longer. They kissed all the way until they reached the door of Faye's bedroom. As Raniel's back leaned against her door, Faye pushed the door wide open. They continued to kiss until they were on the bed.

"Are you sure?" asked Raniel

"I'm surer than I've ever been before."

Raniel closed the door behind him.

School was awkward from there. They kept their distance after that day, but they wanted nothing more to reveal their true feelings for each other to the whole world.

"About yesterday.." Faye says, "Everything's cool between us... right?"

"If you think we're cool, then yeah, we're cool."

Except things weren't.

The valentines dance was coming up, and everyone was desperate to find someone to go with. Faye went up to Raniel and asked, "Do you want to go to the dance again?" But Raniel responded with nothing but a bunch of "umms" and "uhhs" until he finally spoke up. "Sorry, I.. I can't." Faye was devastated, whereas Raniel just ran away

Once again, the day of the valentines dance arrived. The only reason Raniel went was because his mother thought he was going with Faye again and he didn't have to courage to tell his mom. All night Raniel just stood in the corner of the gymnasium with nobody else, until he saw Faye walk in with his cousin, Von.

The whole night Raniel couldn't stop looking at them. The only thing he noticed that Faye was NOT impressed with Von. Faye took a glance at Raniel who was in the corner, but Raniel quickly turned in another direction. Faye looked back at Von, upset.

Von spoke up, "I understand that you want to be with Raniel." He says.

"I'm sorry, Von," Faye says, "I can't do this with you."

"It's fine." He says, "Now go to Raniel. You deserve him."

Faye smiled and walked up to Raniel.

"Why didn't you want to go to the dance with me," Faye asked

Raniel replied, "I did, I actually really did," He says, "I guess I just got scared that we'd get teased again."

Faye reassured, "When I'm next to you, you have NOTHING to be afraid of."

"I guess your right.", Raniel said.

Faye quickly grabbed Raniel by the hand as the last song of the night began to play. It was like the previous dance all over again. Except there were no long kisses, of course. But as the song slowly faded away. The words came out of their mouths.

"I love you."
