Summer.
I'll absolutely be the first to admit that summer is my obsession, and hands-down my favorite season. A large majority of my most cherished memories take place in the summer, and I kind of feel like everyone feels the same way. Or, at least, everyone should.
I think that when the word "summer" comes to mind, everyone has this big, crazy party scene in their heads. I know you know what I'm talking about. Whether it be a huge bonfire on the beach, running down empty streets at night with a huge group of friends, walking through a big city with your summer clique, or hanging out at a campsite, everyone who loves and thinks about this amazing time of year as frequently as I do always want to make the most of this glorious season.
But too often, our precious summer days are put to waste.
Don't get me wrong; it's okay to not want to spend 100% of your time outdoors. Heck, even I realize the beauty of a mid summers nap. Or maybe being outside just isn't your thing, and you don't even know where I'm going with this.
I'm going to label this problem "The Instagram Problem". Or maybe the YouTube, Tumblr, Twitter, Wattpad problem.... Whatever social media or way of virtual communication you spend the most time on.
Too often, we spend our days sitting inside, reading Instagram or Twitter posts about summer activities all winter long, yet as soon as it comes down to it, you don't have any sort of game plan. Maybe you don't know how to pull together a whole group of people; maybe you don't want to, either. But the one situation that I find myself in the most is the thought that someone else will pull all this summer stuff off for me, and that all I have to do is sit inside until July 1 hits and I'll be cruising down the ultimate summer highway.
No.
If you think that's true, you need to stop. Or be slapped.
The reality of this situation is this: You will sit inside for days, maybe weeks on end, on your phone or whatever you use, texting, tweeting, stalking (don't try to deny you don't do this), or posting, and your days will slip by. Your friends (unless that friend is me) will be waiting for someone to make plans, just like you. Maybe you'll go to a few parties, a sleepover or two, but nothing will be original. Too often, this blank period of time happens in the first month of vacation, when you're trying to wean off of your long ol' school routine. Next thing you know, the last month hits and you're sitting there wondering what the heck happened.
So the point is: get off your butt and make the most of your vacation. It's yours, anyways, but I'm here to give you a few ideas on how to rule your summer in any weather.
Now without further ado, let's get started! Shall we?
