"I hope your first night here treated you well." Daniel walked up to me with a smile. I nodded my head and tried to return the gesture as best as I could. I hadn't gotten a full night's sleep in years, so it was extremely weird for me to feel as rested as I did now. "That's great to hear. So I came to bother you to ask if you wanted to go on your first supply run to see how things go. Unless, you've already made up your mind on staying or not." The older man's smile tightened as it was obvious he didn't want me to leave.
"I think I'll see how it goes, last night went really well." I tried to reassure him and his smile went right back up at my words. I was honestly hoping that his daughter would travel with us, but I didn't know exactly what her position here was and how she helped others. I just wanted to get to know her more, she interested me like none other.
"That's awesome, so get anything you might need and we'll be meeting by the gates in about five minutes." Daniel patted my shoulder before turning to go off wherever he needed to. I closed the door once he was gone and made sure I had everything I needed, including my gun and my knife which were both secured in my jeans. I made my way to where we had entered the small town last night to see Daniel and a couple other new people standing around him. When he saw me, he welcomed me with a side hug before introducing me to everyone. I was also hoping Dinah would come along so I would have someone to socialize with but I couldn't seem to find her anywhere. As we left the security of the town, I walked by Daniel as the others kept close in case anything were to happen.
"Do you guys go on supply runs every day?" I asked quietly while we walked. It only peaked my interest because I knew that I found them on a supply run, and I wanted to know what else they could possibly need. Daniel nodded his head and motioned to the other people walking around us.
"We usually have different groups running for different supplies. So yes, we pretty much have runs every day but yesterday was for clothing, today is for medical supplies, other days might be food, water, stuff for shelters, and things like that. Whatever we need we try to keep on top of so we don't run out and risk losing people." He explained. I nodded my head, really liking the way he ran his people. I could tell he was an amazing leader and an all around great guy. I really wouldn't mind staying here since it was so organized. It would definitely help my survival and on top of everything else, I could hopefully gain the chance of getting closer to the leader's daughter. Everything seemed to be going in the right direction for once in this fucked up world.

We came back to the makeshift town all in one piece. We hadn't encountered many zombies and we were all thankful for that. Just like last night, people crowded the gates as we entered to survey their friends and family members. Daniel led me over to what seemed like a warehouse since we had the majority of the medical supplies with us. He showed me where everything went so that I would know for future reference and if I needed anything. "That was successful. You did really well Lauren, those combat skills really make a difference for you I see." He smiled while patting my back lightly.
"It's a gift and a curse." I joked causing the older man to laugh. "But I'm really liking it here, I think I want to stay at least for a while." I explained. Daniel nodded his head before coming in for a side hug. I awkwardly patted his back until he pulled away to where we both began to make our way out of the warehouse. People walked through the streets looking happy as ever, as if we weren't all in the middle of a zombie apocalypse right now.
"I really love to hear that Lauren, you're an amazing asset to us all, even if people don't realize it just yet." I nodded in acknowledgment as it fell silent between the two of us while we walked. I didn't know where we were going but I didn't feel the need to return to the house just yet, seeing as it was still daytime outside. It was late afternoon for sure but I couldn't exactly know for sure. I think for the most part the older man wanted to show me around the town since we didn't get to it last night. I didn't mind, I thought this town was actually really cool and well taken care of. This was more than I could've asked for, especially when the world was in the state it is.
