                                                              Chapter 1- An Average Day

"Everybody else basic/You live life on an every day basis with" - Kendrick Lamar

I scribble that last bit in my journal just as the bell for the end of the day rings. I gather my things and stuff my note book into my Coach Purse. I rush out of my math class with relief. Another boring day at Breechwood High. I walk absent mindedly through the hallway as kids ready to go home push excitedly past me. As I make it through the double doors, I see my girls, Briona and Tanae on the ramp with a couple of other girls laughing and talking. "Hey y'all!" I say suddenly chipper. They always brighten my day. "Hey boo." says Tanae. She's taller than I am (who isn't?), light skinned and thick. "Hey." greets Briona. She's my height, but way thicker. I'm a scrawny little mess. I stand there and I listen to them talk about their day. "Yes. She always be having that skirt up her ass." says this one girl I know named Yazmine. I nod in agreement. "True." I say. "Yes, but y'all know B lunch went down. We almost had a fight between these two juniors." says another girl I know named Kelsea. "For real? Man A lunch be bump as a f***. Who almost fought?" I asked her. "It was Jazmine Sessom and Shanteria." She answeres. "Those two ain't never going to fight." Yazmine put in. We talked some more abput things that were happening around school. "I got to go to my job." Tanae said after they left. She just too happy she works somewhere. Its only McDonalds. But at least she's making money. A job is a job.

"I'm bout to go home y'all." Briona said. "Oh you is? I'm bout to go with you." I say. Me and Briona live in the same neighborhood, but not on the same street. "Bye girl!" I shout to Tanae. "Guess what?" Briona asked half way through the walk. "What?"

"I'm talking to this boy named Tavarus." said Briona. "He go to Breechwood?" I ask. "No. He lives in Atlanta." Briona said, happily. I roll my eyes. "Here you go with another catfish." I say, laughing. "He cute though. He sent me a picture of him." She says. "Well I don't wanna see. Show me some other time." I tell her. "Forget you." She says, laughingly. Briona is like my sister. We talk about everything. She's the only one who knows about my telepathy ability. Tanae doesn't know. If you didn't know, telepathy is the ability to send messages to others with your mind. Pretty cool. I discovered I had it a year after my parents died. My grandma told me I had the power and I told Briona about it.

As Briona turned the corner to go to her street, I sent her a mind message saying bye. In reply she shouted a loud and rambunctious "bye" down the street.

When I got to my house noone was home. Grandma left a note saying that her and grandpa were out shopping. I washed my hands and fixed myself a bowl of cereal. Cinnamon Toast Crunch. After I did my homework and went to sleep. When I woke up it was only an hour later and they still weren't home. I didn't feel like trying to call my friends. Tanae at work and Briona's consumed with that boy. Everyone's busy. Sometimes I wish I had a boyfriend to spend time with when my friends and family are busy. Sadly, I'm fifteen years old and I've never had a boyfriend.

Does my life suck or is it just me?
