Seperation Anxiety

Emma's pov

I gulped as I look at my phone. It was only one week before school. Thats normal. So why was I so nervous? Well. My angels Faith and Logan are both 5. They have to go to Kindergarten. And I have to call the school to sign them up.

Then I wouldnt see them everyday. I stood frozen on the couch. "Love?" I heard from the stairs. Darn it. I turn around to face him. "Yeah." I say. "You okay? You're staring at your phone likes its a roch." He says chuckling. I sigh. He comes over and hugs me.

"Seriously. Whats wrong." He commands. "Im not going to see our kids as much as we used to. Theyre going to school now. It all happened to fast." I admit. I feel him nod on my head. "Aye. You're right. But we want a future with them. I've already learned the hard way with kass. I thought I would never get off of that bloody island. And she would be 7 forever." He says.

I close my eyes letting a tear run down. "Emma. You have to." He adds. I nod. "Fine." I say. I sit up and grab my phone. He leaves the room.

Time skip to next week

Today's the day. I had already dropped off Kassidy and Henry, starting their 2nd year of high school. I held logans hand as we walk towards the school, I get more and more nervous. How are they going to deal with it? I told them, but they still don't understand.

"Mommy? Is this it?" Logan asks. I squeeze his hand gently. "Yeah baby. It is." I say. I look behind me to see Killian carrying Faith. She had her face buried in his shoulder. I weakly smile at the sight of them. Killian, rubbing her back telling her its going to be okay.

"Swan." Killian says with sadness and excitment in his eyes. how does he do it? I nod. I kneel down to logans height. Killian does the same thing and let goes of faith, setting her down gently. He is always so careful around them.

"Mommy, daddy, I dont want to leave you." Faith said. I smile at her pleading eyes. "Neither do I. But you have to. Its the law. Besides, it will only be for eight hours." I say, mostly to myself. "8 hours!?" The twins say in sync. Oh right, they don't really have a concept of time.

"But trust me, it will go by faster than you know it." Killian buts in. I nod. They look at us skeptically. They nod before following the other kids to the doors. I see ashley step outside. She sees me and runs over. "Emma. Hi." She says sweetly.

I give her a slight smile. "Hey ashley." I say. "So faith and logan are finally going to school. I knew it was them when I saw my list." She said. My eyes widen. "You're a teacher now!? And my kids' teacher!? That makes me feel so much better!" I exclaim. She laughs and Killian wraps his arm around my shoulders.

"Yeah. Dont worry. Theyll be just fine." She says. I nod. "Well. We better get going. Its my first day back to work." I say. She smiles and waves. I wave back and walk towards our car.

time skip

As soon as I walk into the main room I see a blur and get tackled. "ah." I exclaim. Until I realized my mom is hugging me. I see Killian give david a bro hug. "Mom! What the-" I started to say before I was cut off. "oh emma I'm so glad your back!" She say muffled by shoulder.

I roll my eyes and hug her back. "Mom. Im coming back to work, not coming home from the army." I say. She pulls back. "But it feels like it. its been half a decade since you have been here. and it gets lonely." She pouts. "Hey!" Dad exclaims hurt.

she blushes of embarrass-
ment. the sisters laugh. I roll my eyes. "but really emma. We are all glad that you're back on duty. And we have saved paperwork for you~" Regina teases. Well, I hope so. "Shes right. Starting off easy." Snow agrees. I push past her. Killian laughs. "I swear! Its not like I came from the hospital!" I exclaim.

Mom opens her mouth to say something but closes it after a second. I sigh and sit at my desk. Zelena comes over to me and hands me a stack of paper over less then an inch thick. "starting off easy." She teases. I give her a death glare.

9:05.

I got started on the paperwork and a split second. Everything was going fine until I realized what I was doing. And what I wasnt doing. Being with my babies. I started breathing harder. But not hyperventilating. My nose started to sting. Great, I'm being one of this moms and having separation anxiety. I push the lump down in my throat.

10:00

It was exactly 10:00 when I looked out the window and saw a couple and their child walking down the sidewalk past our windows. Great, thanks. Just what I needed, a reminder of what I want to do. Ugh paperwork! Let me get lost in you!

Killian brushes my arm as he passes me on purpose, actually calming me down a bit. But 4 and 1/2 more hours till I see my kids again.

10:39

Regina comes over to me. "Emma. I see how jittery you are. They are with Ashley and fine. Calm down. These hours will pass sooner than you know it." she says trying to cheer me up. I shake my head. "how can I not get worked up like this. I mean, we live in storybrooke. Anything can happen." I argue.

11:14

"Ugh. I have to go on patrol." Dad says. This was my chance. "Ill go. You can stay here." I say a bit too fast. Killian glares at me. "No. Cause then she'll might 'just randomly drive m to the school.'" he says. Dad chuckles as he grabs the keys and walks out. I pout.

12:36

2 more hours. You can do this emma. I don't know why, but I glance at Killian. He nods. I take a breath and continue the last bit of paperwork. Oh how much I just want to hold them in my arms. I hide my  face with my hair. I can have anyone seeing me like this. Even if its already too late.

1:45

Maybe I should just run away and pull the kids out now. I mean. Im their mother. I can do whatever I want with them. Woah. That sounded creepy. I start to daydream about the best moments I had with the kids so far. Faiths first word. 'Dada' how my fluttered.

How Killian picked her up and spun her around. Making her giggle that adorable giggle of hers. Killian hugged and kissed her.

Time!

2:20 hadnt come any later. I stood up and ran out the door. Honestly, not caring about killian. He has others ways of transportation. I hear Killian call after me.

Killian

As soon as 2:20 came around, emma bolted. "Swan!?" I call out to her. Regina chuckles. "You just can keep her away." She say. I roll my eyes and reply with "aye." I ran after her. She was already in the car ready. I got into the passengers seat and she took off. Pretty sure over the speed limit. Good job sheriff!

Time skip in emmas POV

Finally! Made it just in time. The kids came out as I closed my door and Killian did the same. Faith and logan came out frantically looking for us. I walk over to them. Trying not to look as desperate as possible. "Mommy!" Faith exclaimed as her eyes lit up at the sught of us.

She and her brother ran as fast as their little legs could take them. I kneel down to crash into faith. I wrap my arms around her immediately. Logan and Killian did the same thing. "I've missed you." Faith said. I nod. "Oh kid. You don't know how much I missed you."
