I woke up with a jolt. Someone was moving outside my bedroom. Using my instincts I grabbed the hunting knife I kept beside my bed (encase of emergencies) and crept over to behind the door. Suddenly it burst open and the shadow of my younger brother was revealed. ‘Finch?’ he asked, his voice quivering slightly. I sighed ‘yes Adonis’. He looked behind the door and smiled slightly when he found me standing there. It was the first time I had seen him smile in months. ‘I’ve been thinking. Do we really have to go back to school tomorrow?’. I had been thinking the same thing. I would have loved not to go back to school. But people would start asking questions and I promised Omega I would return after the summer. But of course I couldn’t tell him this. I have to be the ‘mothering figure’ and look after him now that we are on our own. ‘Yes Adonis. Now go to bed you need your sleep.
The next morning, I woke up early and made us breakfast. We were running low on food. I made a mental note to get some after school. Adonis made his way into the kitchen and ate his food still half asleep. Soon there was a knock on the door. I opened it to reveal a tall girl with fair hair and pale skin. It was my best friend in the whole world, and the only one who knew my secret, Omega.
