Chara was shocked. She immediately pulled back because of that shock. She didn't really want to, but out of pure panic she did.

"Wait!" Sans called after her.

It was no use. By the time Sans had even opened his mouth, Chara was long gone. Sans mentally faced palmed himself. He knew that the next day he actually had work to do. Work he had to do with Chara.

When Chara finally got home, she went directly to her bedroom. When she got there, she was surprised to see the kid sitting on her bed.

    "AH!" She screamed.

The kid eyed her strangely. But Chara almost tackled the kid after they brought up what looked like a floating button that said 'Reset' and 'Continue'.

"W-What is this?" Chara said, clearly shaken.

The kid started to reach for the 'Reset' button, but Chara actually tackled the kid this time. She caught the kid but her face landed directly on the floor. When she got up, the kid had put the buttons away. However, there was a red heart floating above the kid.

Chara knew what a soul was. She knew what each color of soul meant. However, she never saw her own soul. She had no idea what color her soul was. But when she was looking down at herself, to make sure she wasn't hurt, she saw a black heart.

     "H-Huh?" She mumbled.

The kid looked very off put by the black soul, and just about as quick as it appeared, it disappeared. Even though a second ago the kid looked scared, they now looked like they were filled with a different emotion.

     Determination.

Sans decided to go for a walk. He hadn't really done anything since he met Chara. But while he was walking he saw a mob boss that everyone feared.

     Toriel.

Sans quickly hid behind a brick wall to both spy and hear what the mob boss and friends were doing.

"We need the soul!" It didn't sound like Toriel so Sans assumed it was a goon.

"Which one? There are seven!" It didn't sound like Toriel or the first goon so Sans decided it was goon number two.

"Ah, that's where you are wrong. There are eight." Toriel finally spoke.

Both of the goons seemed very confused.

"However, to get the eighth to work, we need the red soul- or determination."

"But boss! What's the eighth soul?" One goon asked foolishly.

"The black soul. Hate. The rarest soul ever. It only ever works when it's near a red soul. When it is, the black soul is able to absorb human life, and other traits." Toriel explained, a little annoyed.

"But boss, if it's so rare, how will we find someone who has a black soul?" The other goon asked.

     Toriel chuckled.

"All people with a black soul leave a trail of death and damage the minute they find out they have a black soul."

"But wait, how would they not know what color their soul is?" The goon said on beat.

"Because they only every show in the presence of the red soul." Toriel said, about to hit someone.

"Why do we want a someone with a black soul anyway?"
