I groaned as the light hit my face, almost burning my eyes
I slowly get up and look around our room
"Mom" I call out for her
I get off of my bed but soon regret as my feet met the cold floor
I make my way to our kitchen to see her staring at her phone
"Mom?" She looked up at me with a terrified expression
I quickly take her phone and read the message
Unknown:
Do you really think you can hide from me Ella? Don't make me laugh. I'll always find you. You can run all you want but I'll soon catch you."We have to go"I hear her voice laced with fear as she quickly gets up from the table
But I grab her wrist
"He could be messing with us Mom" I said as I looked at her terrified eyes "He couldn't have found us that quick! He could be bluffing!"
"I'm not willing to take that chance Alexis"she said as she yanked her wrist out of my grip
She quickly ran into our room and packed our bags
In 15 minutes she was done packing our bag
"Lets go"she said as she walked out the door
Before I closed the door, I sighed it was nice being able to call this place my home for 2 months
"Alexis"I heard my mom shouted
I quickly shut the door and ran down the stairs
My mom was already in the car, already starting the engine
I quickly get myself into the passenger seat
She mom drives like a mad man as we leave Ivory Town
"Goodbye" I whispered as the town slowly disappeared from my sight
I look back at my mom "Where to now"
She glanced at me before looking back a the road
She shrugged "I don't know but somewhere far"
I nodded my head and looked out the window
It's been like this ever since we ran away from, Eric,my so called dad
We'd jump to town to town trying our best to get away from him
The longest we stayed in one town was 3 years
Other than that we've been on the run
I remember the day we decided to run 12 years ago
I could hear my mother screams as she begged someone for help
I wanted to come out of the closet and help her but I promised not to move
"AAAAAAHHHHHH"
"YOU STUPID BITCH, YOU CAN'T ANYTHING RIGHT" my father yelled as my mother screamed again
I close my eyes tightly and covered my ears hoping the screaming would end soon
What seemed like forever until the screams stopped
I heard the front door open and slam shut and I quickly ran out of the closet to my parents room
My breathing stopped as I see my mother's limp body
I run towards her body and crouch down towards her
I hug her and cry into her chest
"Mom" I cried "Please wake up please" as I shake her body
"Please don't leave me " I sobbed
What felt like an enternity I felt my mother's hand stroke my hair
I look up to see my mother who was weakly smiling at me
"I'll never leave you, my little flower" she whispered
I hugged her tightly but loosen my grip as she whimpered
I stood up and quickly ran out of the room
Getting the first aid kit, I run back into the room and tend to my mom's wounds
As I put the rubbing alcohol on her cuts, she breaks the silence between us
"I'm sorry" she said
I looked up at her confused
Her eyes started tearing up
"I'm sorry" she repeated "I'm sorry" she suddenly hugged me and I felt her tears hit my shoulder
I hugged her back burying my face into her neck
"I promise" she whispered"To give you the life that you deserve, Alexis...I promise"
That night we ran away from our so-called home and didn't look back
Since that day we've been on the run
"Alexis " I snapped out of thoughts and looked at my mom
"Yea?"
"I said you should rest it might take awhile before we find a place to stay"
I nod my head and stare at the clear blue sky
Here we go again
