- Logan POV -

"Did you hear, she's back"

"Did she really come back?"

"Did you see her?"

"Dude, she got hotter"

"I heard she even got her old locker back"

"Does he know?"

"How do you think he'll react?"

"Bet you 10 bucks he'll cry"

I was walking to lunch and all i'v heard is gossip about some girl. I walked to my locker and saw my best friend James leaning against. By the look on his face he had bad news. He looked all shaky.

"Whats up man?" He shot his head up when he heard me. I gave him a suspicious look while I opened my locker. "Whats wrong?" He looked back at the floor.

"Did you hear?" He was mumbling, I could barely hear him.

I shook my head yes "Yeah, everyone's talking about some new girl" He couldn't even look up from the floor.

"That's not all" That got my full attention. I shut my locker and turned towards him. I gave him a slight glare.

"Just tell me already, what is it?" He looked me in the eyes.

"River's back" I felt my heart stop, and I froze in place.

"Where is she?" He shot his head up giving me a dis-believing look.

"are you sure you want to see her, I mean after what happened?"

"Just tell me where she is!" I was getting impatient. I need to see her now, I have to talk to her.

"Cafeteria" I dashed to the lunch room. I knocked over a few people but they didn't seem to care. I kept running like my life depended on it. I slammed the doors open. The whole room got dead silent.

And there she was. Standing in the middle of a group hug was River Adams.

Her deep chocolate brown hair was in soft waves down her back, her bright blue eyes starring doe eyed at me, her typical band shirt on, skinny jeans, and a pair of blue vans on. We starred at each other a few moments before she took off. She dashed for the back exit and I ran after her. No one got up, but I know they all want to know what will happen. They know what happened in the past.

I rushed out the door and saw her take a sharp right. I know exactly where she's going, it's the same place we used to use to sneak out. I turned the corner just in time to see her hop the fence. I jumped over the fence and speed up. I was on her heels. We were running over a patch of grass when I grabbed her. I reached out and tackled her. I switched our positions so I landed on the floor and her on top of me. But in less than a second I rolled over and had her pinned. She struggled for a few minutes before she stopped and closed her eyes tight.

I got a good look at her. I saw her millions of tiny freckles that went over her nose and cheeks. I noticed she got a little tanner. I noticed all her little details. All I wanted her to do was open her eyes so I can see her unusually bright blue eyes.

I prayed my voice would stay strong, but it let me down by cracking in the middle of my sentence. "Please. Please look at me." I didn't care that I was on the verge of tears. I didn't care that she was going to see me cry, she has millions of times.

She shook her head "I can't" Her voice cracked too.

"Why?" I kept a steady gaze on her face, just waiting for her to look at me.

"It hurts, I can't look you in the eye with out feeling like i'm dying." With that I let out a single sob. She shot her eyes open and starred into my eyes. She always hated when I cried. We starred at each other for a few seconds. Tears streaming down both our faces. I could see her eyes flashing with emotions.

Sadness, pain, hurt, love, betrayal. Her eyes were just flashing with lots of different emotions. Seeing the love she still had when she looked at me made me cry harder.

"Please, stop hating me. I can't take it. It hurts so much knowing you hate me." I was sobbing threw the whole sentence. I can't take the pain of her hating me anymore.

"I can never hate you, and because I can't hate you I hate me. Because I want to hate you, I really do. But you'll always be the only love in my life. I don't want you to be, but you always will be." she was whispering, but her eyes never left mine. It gave me hope, to know that she still loves me.

"I'm gonna show you that I'm still worthy. I'm going to prove how much I love you, that we belong together. I promise I'll get you back. I won't let go this time." For a second I thought I saw happiness flash threw her eyes, but it was gone as quick as it came.

I let her slowly push me off. I watched her get up and take off running again while I sat in the grass. I had the biggest smile on my face. I don't care if anyone saw me like this. I'm going to get my girl back. When I do, I'm going to shower her in kisses and love. I won't care if anyone thinks I'm whipped. I love that girl with all my heart, and I have since we were 5 years old.

I remember the first day I saw her.

It was the first day of kindergarten and she had just stepped into the classroom. I was in the corner playing with Lego's when I saw her. She had her dark hair in pigtails. She had on light blue jeans, a pink shirt that had a cupcake on it, and worn out sneakers. Her bright blue eyes widened with fear. She looked so lost.

I watched as she went to the corner and sat down. She pulled out a coloring book and started to color. I slowly walked over to her and sat down. She instantly looked up and smiled at me. I noticed that she was missing her to front teeth.

"Hi!" She was talking to me. A pretty girl was talking to me. I waved shyly and blushed.

She giggled a little before tilting her head to the side. "What's your name silly?"

I stuttered a few times before choking out "Logan" And to my surprise her smile got wider.

"My names River. Wanna color with me." She handed me the crayon in her hand, witch happened to be blue. I took it and scooted closer.

"Blue's my favorite color." She looked up from what I think is a dog.

"Mine too" I smiled and leaned down to help her color her rainbow dog.

From that moment we were inseparable. We did everything together. That one conversation started years of being best friends. I still have that blue crayon.

I came out of my day dream with a bigger smile on my face. I couldn't help but think how no one could get this smile off my face. That was until I saw Avery Summers stomping towards me with a murderous look on her face.

Oh lord, Avery Summers, River's best friend. She is not a force to be reckoned with. Lets just say the smile got wiped off my face faster than the speed of light. This isn't going to be pretty. Was my last thought before Avery fist came at my face.
