“Yeah I love you guys too! Don’t worry about me at all; I will be completely fine. YOU guys just worry about yourselves and having an amazing time. This is a huge opportunity for both of you, ok? Ok love you, bye!”
I hung up the phone before my parents could hear the sniffles I was masking. I wondered how long it would be before my dad could take off of work so I could see my parents again.
Sighing. I looked around my new room. I loved the hard wood floors, and the large windows that flooded the room with light. There was a section of tall mirrors on the wall that opened up into a big walk-in closet. My room connected to a bathroom, and I was extremely grateful that I didn’t have to share one with the seven Morgan boys.
There was a feeble knocking sound at the door and I opened it to find one of the younger boys, Cooper, standing by the door looking up at me with wide eyes.
“Umm Paige?”
“Yeah Cooper, what’s up?”
“Well do you want to meet Rhea? I think you’ll like her. I like her.” He giggled. “Ethan sure likes her.”
I looked at him in confusion, not understanding the joke.
“She’s Ethan’s girlfriend.” He clarified.
“Oh! Yeah sure! I’d love to meet her. Be down in a sec!”
“Ok!” he ran down the hall and she could hear the sound of his feet thumping down the steps.
I looked at my still messy appearance. I took my hair out of the ponytail and tried to smooth it down a bit with my hands. It didn’t do much, but I simply shrugged at my reflection and went through the long hallway of bedrooms and down the staircase that led to the den.
My eyes widened in shock when I got down the steps. Sitting on a couch with a couple of the boys, was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. I ogled for a second before composing myself and walking over to where the girl sat.
“Hey, you’re Rhea right? I’m Paige. New member of the Morgan household for a few months.”
The girl smiled a smile that lit up her warm brown eyes.
“Nice to meet you Paige, I’m Rhea. Ethan’s girlfriend.”
Jeez Louise! This Morgan boy sure had a girlfriend that lived up to his good looks. It was astonishing really, and I suddenly wished she had put a little bit more effort into my own plain appearance. I sat down out at the couch and joined in on the conversation.
I learned that Rhea was going to be a freshman at Haverford College while Ethan attended U Penn. Both schools are in Philadelphia and the two of them could be together regularly. Rhea decided against applying to U Penn because she had wanted a smaller college feel, and Haverford had about 1200 undergraduates. Both schools are very selective and I was impressed.
Rhea and Ethan had a great dynamic that I loved. They were humorous and affectionate, and I was laughing all throughout their conversation. Cooper and Benjie, the other two boys that had been on the couch had left, and after a while Ethan was called up by one of the deep male voices which I couldn’t quite identify to play Call of Duty.
“So, Paige. You’ll be joining the boys at school tomorrow right?”
I groaned. Tomorrow was so soon. I had forgotten about that.
