It was 5 am, I was just getting up to go to school, but something wasn't right. I didn't hear anyone downstairs or even in the bathroom brushing their teeth. I was starting to get worried as I walked down the stairs to the kitchen. No one was there, not even my mom. I was starting to panic, "where is everyone?" I thought. suddenly, everything went black. My name is Isabella Roberts and I am 16 years old, and I live in Vancouver, Canada. I get up at 5 am every morning to go to school which is 30 minutes away and starts at 7 am. You would get in is much trouble if you show up late, and your teachers wouldn't even bother to catch you up on what you missed. I have 1 brother and 1 sister, and my mom and dad are always up at like 4:30 getting our breakfast ready. But today, they weren't. I have no idea where I am going or what is happening, but all I know is that I may never see my family again. I woke up in a blank room strapped to an operation table. then I heard voices in the corner. "no,no! she's not ready for that yet!" "of course she is I've waited so long and I'm not going to wait anymore!" "but she'll die!" "That doesn't matter!" "ugh you're impossible!" "shush! she's awake!" I sit up straight and stare at these weird people's faces. "Where am I and why am I here?" I ask them without thinking. The tall dark haired man looks at me and says "you're here because we believe that you are one of them and we can't have that now can we?" the woman smiles, "honey it's all gonna be okay, we just want to see if you are normal." what does she mean by 'normal'? "where is my family?" I say to the woman, and her face turns pale. "erm... your family... is still back... in Canada." "WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'BACK IN CANADA?!?" I scream back, not even caring about what the man was doing behind me. the lady goes to the man and says something that I can't make out, but the man looks upset. They both storm out of the room and slam the door behind them. I start thinking about my family and if they even know I'm gone. I'm worried about my little siblings because they always get upset when I'm gone, but what will happen now that I'm really gone? hopefully I can find a way to escape and get back home, if I can find out where the heck I am. About an hour later, the lady comes in with a tray of food and a glass of juice, the first thing I say is, "is it poisoned?" she looks surprised, shocked even. "No sweetie it's not I would never do that. Damond might try too but I won't let him honey don't worry. I'm going to get you out of here." wow, I thought she was trying to kill me but apparently not, she wants to save me! there's one thing I need to know, "what is your name?" I ask the lady. "oh I'm sorry honey, my name is Melanie." "How old are you Melanie?" the question shoots out of my mouth before I can think. DANGIT. "I'm 24 and how old might you be?" she replies like it was no big deal. "I... I... I'm 16." I stutter back. "Cool" she replies. "How are we going to escape?" I ask with an uncontrollable hint of worry in my voice. "I don't know but I'll think of something, just you wait it might be bad right now but by Friday we will be on our way to Canada." Hallelujah. just then doctor Damond walks in. "morning ladies, I see you haven't touched your breakfast Isabella." how does he know my name?!? Never mind that, he's got a huge needle in his hand... and he's rubbing my arm with alcohol. oh no. the shot is for me. as soon as he injects me with it I feel woozy and tired and immediately fall asleep. the next morning I wake up to the sound of footsteps, and see Melanie walking around gathering things and putting them in a backpack labeled Isabella. we must be leaving today. Melanie notices me and says, "we have an hour before Damond comes in to check on you, I've started to collect survival stuff and some food, water, and clothes for our little 'journey'. and by the way another girl named Kathryn is going to join us, and she's just your age!" "Um... ok" "trust me you'll be fine." I get up out of the bed and start helping. we will leave in about 30 minutes and we will have to run because a car would be too obvious. i am just getting dressed in dark jeans, a gray tank top, and a dark leather hunting jacket with combat boots when Melanie comes back in with Kathryn. I'm surprised. I thought Kathryn would be all disheveled considering it sounded like she was here for a while, but she's actual really pretty. She's wearing army green cargo pants that are like leggings on her skinny body, a white t shirt, a cream colored sweater, and vans. "Hi I'm Kathryn." she says to me "hi I'm Isabella." I reply. "Are you ready girls?" Melanie asks. "Yup" we reply in unison. we look at each other, and I instantly know we are gonna be best friends. Melanie opens the window in the back corner which is just wide enough to fit through, after we all are out, we start running and do t stop for a good hour or two. We sit down for a little bit in a little tree area and have some lunch which consists of ham, turkey and cheese. We pack up and start walking for about anther hour, until we reach Melanie's friend. we hop in the truck and drive for a long time and eventually fall asleep. we drive through the night only stopping to go to the bathroom or switch drivers. we wake up in Michigan about an hour away from the Canadian border. We drive and drive and finally we are in Canada. we are about to turn down my street when I get worried, what will my family say?
