My eyes opened to sunlight shinning through my window. Just another day, I thought, but turns out I was wrong. I looked at the bold, red numbers on my alarm clock that read 7:00 am and moaned to myself, it's the weekend and I didn't get to sleep in.
I stood up, doing my usual morning stretchs and cracked my knuckles as well. I walked out of my room and stood at the top of my stairs. I felt a little idiotic because I was going to yell 'Good morning' but I had no one to yell it too.
I, Elle Kingston, have no friends or family. I've been alone all my life. I was in foster care and got moved around a lot but when I finally found a home, a single women who had no kids and didn't have a boyfriend, she died.
She left me all the money she had and her home, which I sold because it felt lonely and empty without her. I paid for high school and university with the money, to finally become a baker. Not a world famous baker or anything like that, but I run my own litlle cafe and it does pretty good.
I entered my kitchen and grabbed an apple from a bowl on my table. As I turned, my phone beeped and it was my alarm clock. That was helpful, I thought angrily. I threw my phone on the counter and sighed. Something caught my eye and I turned.
A man all in black, with a hood pulled over his face was staring at me through my window. My eyes widened and I backed up, screaming. I tripped over my stupid carpet and screamed again. All I could see of the man was his smile, peeking out from under his hood.
I screamed again and my door burst open. Someone broke down my door but I hardly thought about that as I screamed repeatedly. A handsome figure came over to me and yelled "Hey! Calm down! What wrong?"
I pointed to the window and stuttered, to my surprise, the man was gone. I felt myself shiver and said astonished "There.. There was a man! Right there!" I pointed at the window again but no one was there. I sat on my carpet and curled up in a ball, with my knees to my chest.
The handsome man who broke down my door sat in front of me. His blue eyes sparkled with confusion and concern. "He was in all black and was staring at me with a creepy smile." He nodded, his brown hair sticking up in spikes.
"Are you sure? There was nothing there when I looked." My eyes widened in anger as I yelled "Of course I'm sure! He was right there!" I pointed over to the window. The only thing that was there, was a small flower pot sitting on the ledge.
I mumbled to myself "Darn it." "Well, thank you for coming anyways." He nodded but still looked concerned. "Oh, I'm Maddox Grant. It was nice to meet you..." He trailed off, not knowing my name. "I'm Elle Kingston."
He nodded and left me with my broken door. Sighing, I called someone to fix it and they said they'd come in a half an hour. I looked around, not knowing what to do. Still a little traumatized, I sat on my couch and thought about Maddox.
He was definitely handsome but I didn't get to take in his appearance because I was screaming. His blue eyes were dazzling and hard to forget. He his brown hair stood up in spikes with bits of blond and his strong jaw proved he must be athletic.
His lips were a little uneven, almost like he was smirking all the time and he had a long nose, which suited his high cheekbones. He was going to be hard to forget. I sighed to myself and felt bored. I stood up and decided to go in my garden, where I saw the stranger.
I looked around but there were no traces of him. I stared intensely at every piece of land in my backyard until I finally found something. I jumped at it before it could blow away. It was a little piece of black fabric and it felt soft, like cotton.
I stared at it almost like I could summon the man back, almost like I could figure out who he was. "Hello?" I heard someone yell and ran back into my living room. A sigh of relief escaped my lips, as I saw the door repair man.
