It was another cold, depressing day at school, the place I dreaded. All I do there is put my head down and work.I'm not known for being very popular, I don't have any friends. I don't know why, "weird". Thats all I hear people say to me, I also hear laughter. I don't try to be funny. I once heard a girl say "try hard" when i didn't join in with a joke the class was having and doing my work in stead. In fact I'm failing every class. The teachers hate me for some reason. My mum tells me to only worry about my self. So I do.
At break I try to avoid everyones stares so I keep my head down as I wonder through the overly crowded corridors. I jump as the bell screeches throughout the school. Walking just a bit faster so I can get to a class I don't really care about. Still looking down I walk into something. Quickly flushing red with embarrassment, thinking I had just walked into a wall, but I look up to see another pink girl. Alone. She does something that no one has ever done to me in this dump. She smiles and says "sorry" while standing to one side to let me through. I briefly smile back but carry one rushing to class.
That night I could not stop thinking about the smiling girl. Even though she also looked very sad and alone she had the courage to smile and say sorry. For that I am flattered.
'Lucy! Dinners ready. Come down stairs."
"Coming mum," As I go through the obstacle course which I call my bedroom I feel my phone buzz in my back pocket. I'm worried, the only texts I get are hate ones or random ones from my grandma. But to surprise it's snap chat. I never use that stupid thing, don't know why I still have it. I open the unused app with my trembling fingers as I start to panic. I hover over the unusual name. It's just a black screen with text that read "smile:)". Could this be from that girl at school? Or is it just a random person?
