"Frankie! Frankie come here!"
My mothers voice broke my daze.
I wandered over to her reluctantly.
"This dress is perfect! Don't you think?" She said as she waved it in my face.
"I hate it." I muttered under my breath, avoiding eye contact with her.
"What did you say?" She asked, not hearing my previous statement.
"Oh. I don't really like it..."
"Oh come on... Its beautiful! It'll show off your legs too." She insisted.
"I'm not wearing it." I huffed.
My mum looked at me with confusion, "Frankie, why not? You'll be the prettiest girl there!"
I quivered at that entire sentence. There was so many things wrong with it.
I crossed my arms, and continued to avoid looking at my mother or the dress.
"Why do I have to wear a dress to our housewarming party anyway? I'm 16 now! Josh can wear what he wants, why can't I?" I groaned.
I felt my mother's eyes on me, "Because I want you to look pretty for our family! And Josh is a boy, boys don't wear dresses... Go on, try it on." She said, trying to put it in my hands.
I pushed it back into hers, "No." I growled.
Her facial expression became stern, "Frankie. Put on the dress."
I looked her boldly in the eyes, "I'm not wearing that fucking dress-"
I felt her hand whip across my face. "Language!" She scolded angrily.
After a few seconds of silence, she smiled through her teeth at me and continued prancing through the girls section for dresses.
"Mum, I'm going to the restrooms." I called to her, before walking towards the restrooms.
My eyes were met with the same words I saw when I dared to enter public bathrooms.
Male, and Female.
I hung my head low and shamefully entered the Female restrooms.
I rushed into a cubicle, locked the door and began to cry silently.
"I'm not a girl!" I cried under my breath.
And I never will be.

After I had finished my silent crying session, I pulled out my phone and began messaging my younger brother; Josh.
**Messaging: Josh**
Frankie: When are you coming home from Tyler's? You've been there all week.
*****
It took a while, but I got a response.
**Message From: Josh**
Josh: Um... Next week? Maybe?
Frankie: You're going to make me go to mom's shitty party ALONE?
Josh: Bring a friend?
Frankie: Josh, I have no friends.
Josh: That's sad. Very sad.
Frankie: Shut up... Are you and Tyler... dating?
Josh: Fuck how'd you know?
Frankie: I'm pretty sure I can tell if my little brother is in love.
Josh: Dammit! Well I'll be at home next week, I promise.
Frankie: Sweet, thank you. Also, one more thing?
Josh: Yeah?
Frankie: Josh, could I wear some of your clothes for the party?
Josh: Why?
Frankie: Because mom is trying to buy me a dress and I hate it, she won't listen to me.
Josh: Oh, yeah sure.
Frankie: You're a lifesaver! Thank you!
Josh: No problem.

I slipped my phone back in my pocket, taking a slow, deep breath.
Josh had always been a great brother. He recently came out as gay to our mom, and ever since that night, mom has been giving him dirty looks.
I just wish she'd leave Josh alone. He doesn't deserve all the harassment. He's an amazing brother, and a fucking perfect kid.
I finally stood up and walked out of the cubicle, preparing to face the wrath of my mother.
Hi! Thus is my new fanfic, "Transgender"
I've been working a lot on this one quite hard.
I'll update when I feel I should, there'll be no set times.
Probably 1-2 times a week.
Enjoy!
