It was my 8 birthday we were staying in a dirty old motel

I had no gifts or cake but  I didn't care I was with my mom that was good enough for me

But then Eric came bursting through the door

"You whore, did you actually think I won't find you"

"Run Alexis" my mom yelled at me as she pushed me out of the way

He yanked my mom by her hair and slapped her

He threw her on the floor, he started kicking
her stomach

"Stop" I yelled as ran I towards them but he pushed me away making me slam into the wall

I felt the air get knocked out of my small body

Taking in deep breaths I quickly looked around for something to knock him out with

I found a vase that was in the room

I quickly grabbed it and throw it at his head

He stopped immediately and snapped his head towards me

He turned around and started to walk towards me but he was stopped when my mom grabbed his leg

"Eric leave her alone" she cried "you can do  whatever you want to me, just  keep her out of this plea-" she was cut off as he kicked her in her face, knocking her out

He grabbed my shirt and lifted me up to his eye level

I felt my body shake in fear but I struggled against his hold

"You want to act tough huh" he said

I spit in his face but that was a big mistake

He threw me  on the floor and started to kick me

My body felt like it was on fire from the pain  as I screamed in pain

I was close to blacking out when Eric groaned and fell on the floor unconscious

I saw my mother holding a fire extinguisher in her hands

She drop it as she took me in her arms and ran out of the room

She quickly put in the car and drove us to the nearest hospital

"Alexis" I heard my mom say "we're here"

I jumped up from my seat as I looked at the town in front us

6 days ago my mom found a town called Lupo it was far from we were before since then we've been on road;sleeping in old dirty motels or in the car

As we drove into town I couldn't help my admire that forest surrounding the whole town

It was falls and the trees where decorated with different colored trees

As I looked around, kids were running around with there parents chasing them

"Is there any place we can say?"

"We can look for a motel or something"

I nod my head "So,will I be attending school"

She nodded her head "Even if we might not stay for long I still want you to have your education"

"Okay, so when?"

"In a week or two"

"Looking  forward to it" I said sarcastically

Since we always move, I never made friends but I prefer it that way, being a loner is the best

"We're here"

I get out of the car and stretch my arms being in a car for 6 days can be rough

"This motel doesn't look so bad"my mom said

"Yea your right"

As we entered the motel an old lady greeted us from behind the desk  "Welcome" she said with a bright smile

"Hello" my mom said

"What can I help you" she said

"One room please for me and my daughter"

"How long will you be staying" she asked

My mom looked at me and then back at the lady

"Not sure really"

"I see" she said "well, there was a new room that was recently constructed"

She walked over the desk "why don't I show you"

She started walking down the hall with us behind her

"Here we are" she said as she grabbed a key and unlocked it

The room had two queens sized beds with clean sheets; two drawers next to them

On the right there was a small kitchen and on our left the bathroom

All the walls were sky blue color

"Here's the key" the old lady said with a smile "And if you looking for a job I own the diner that's across the street, I'm low on staff so if your interested..."

"Are you serious" my mom asked, the old lady nodded

"yes I would love too"

"Great you work tomorrow" she said "Oh my apologies I didn't introduce myself, my name is Margaret"

"I'm Ella and this my daughter Alexis"

"It's nice to meet you both"Margaret said "If you need anything don't be afraid to ask"

"Thank you Margaret" my mom said

Margaret said her goodbye and left

"This is starting off good" my mom said with a smile

I nodded my head

Hope it stays like this way
