"Hey watch where you're going," a woman shouted. She had a stroller and she had nice chocolate skin.
I had turned the corner and she ran into me with the stroller. I was still on the floor when she was yelling at me. I got up and saw a pink baby bootie. I picked up and was ready to yell that the baby bootie fell but she had disappeared. So I just took it and thought I'd give it to her another time.
I got home and no one was there and I was so hype you could not even understand. I founf a note on the fridge.
Dear Anthony,
Dominic took us out to eat. You were still out and I decided to leave. I made fettucini and shrimp. Hope you enjoy.
Love, Mom.
WOOHOO!!
I got the house all to myself. But there's only one person I wish could be here more than anyhing. I went to the couch and got the house phone and stared at the dried blue nail polish on it.
*FLASHBACK*
"You know I'd love a nice pedicure boyfriend," she said to me. She called me boyfriend as a joke sometimes.
"Well I'm sorry but I'm not gay enough to have nail polish, let alone a pink one."
"It's fine. I'll just go into Sabrina's room and get some myself," she sighed and looked at me with puppy dog eyes. I gave in and she ran upsairs and came back down with a blue nail polish.
"You're very vacillating," I said as she gave me the nail polish. "Yeah I know, I'm just amazing like that." She put her leg on me and I began to paint her toenails.
"I dont know what I will be doing for my 16th birthday. I dont want a sweet sixteen party. It's so generic."
"Then have a house party." She started laughing and I didn't understand what was so funny.
"Are you serious? With who's house?"
"With mine," I answered and she just stared at me like she just had a revelation. Then, she grabbed a pillow and attacked me with it. She caught me off guard and made me get some nail polish on the telephone. Then, I got a pillow too and started attacking her too. There was never a dull moment with her.
*FLASHBACK OVER*
MONDAY MORNING
"Anthony! ANTHONY!"
I woke up to someone shaking me. I pushed them out of my way and ran for the restroom to puke. I had a massive hangover. I felt like there was a continuous loud bell ringing in my ears. I had to wash my mouth right away because of the acrimony taste that the puke left was unbearable. Yes, I drank last night knowing there was school tomorrow. But if you still haven't gotten the obvious: I don't fucking care.
"MOM! ANTONY'S PUKING AGAIN" Sage yelled again in my ear.
"Shut up you snitch, You're so loud," I whisper-screamed at her because it hurt even to talk. I guess I was yelling too last night. Everything is just a blur.
"Yeah well no one told you to drink whiskey last night you fuck-" she said but was then interrupted by a slap to the back of her head by mom.
"No cursing young lady or I will cancel your sweet. Now go finish getting ready," mom scolded and she walked awa rubbing the back of her head. I was chuckling when my mom knocked me in the head.
"OW! Don't you know that I lose brain cells when you hit me in the head."
"Yeah but its not like you care to use them. Here you are reeking the smell of alcohol knowing that you had school today. It's like you don't even try anymore," she said with disappointment coating her every word. She stared at me with a look that made me want to actually change for her.
You could see it in her face that she was stressed with something and it was making her tired. My mom is a beautiful Italian woman with black long curly hair ad green eyes. She's very small and has a strong Italian accent. She's 33 years old because she had me at a young age. Then out of nowhere she looked sick and as if she was going to throw up. She ran out of the bathroom and I followed her. She ran into her bedroom and closed the door. I took it as a sign that she wanted me to leave her alone.
I was downstairs waiting for my mom to go walk to the bus. Then I saw Dominic come down the stairs. I hated him with a passion so strong that the galaxy couldn't even compare. He did nothing to me physically or in any other context. Just him marying my mom and trying to play 'daddy' was enough. No one could replace my real father.
"Your mom's sick and she wants me to walk you to the bus stop," he said to me. "Maybe she smelled you," I said while pretending to belch. He looked at me sternly and said, "She's seriosly sick and I know you dont like me but just deal with me until we get to the bust stop at least."
We started walking to the bus stop and it was drizzling a little. Dominic brought an umbrella and tried to hold it over both our heads but I moved over. Then he tried to start making a conversation so I put my headphones in and blasted my music loudly to let him know that I didnt care about anything he had to say to me. When we reached the bus stop the bus was already there and I just went in without saying "goodbye' or "thank you".
I got on the bus and saw the faces that I used to see every morning before i got my car, the same old boring faces. However, it seemed like they didn't remember me at all because they looked very perplexed when they saw me. I mean, I have changed since the last time they saw me. I used to be a quite little scrawny nerd with glasses and braces. I sat in an empty seat somewhere near the back then I started to doze off.
I walked into my first period and Mr. Balief had already started one of his broing converstions about his life. "Well, well, well look who finally decided to not skip my class today. Did your mom finally get served with truancy, " he asked. I kept walking and sat down in a seat all the way in the back of the room. I began to chew on my gum loudly and and raised my feet up. Everyone in the class was still staring at me. I decided not to lash out on Mr. Balief until he was fully annoyed with me. I waited until everyone was here and the bell rang, until he was finally prepared to teach. When he was about to begin his lecture on the French Revolution that he so dearingly loves, I bursted out laughing.
"What's so funny Mr. Salontro," he asked.
" It still boggles me as to how you couldn't figure out that your own wife was cheating on you after all these years of her little trips," I answered.
The whole classroom gasped as if half of them aren't cheating on their girlfriends or boyfriends. Mr.Balief got so angry that it took him a while to get his words together. Finally he looked at me and told me to go to the principals office.
"With pleasure and Mr.Balief don't frown too much it'll give you wrinkles," I said before making my way to the office.
When I got there, I saw the lovely Mrs. Rose that every guy at the school would love to smash. "Why hello Mrs. Rose," I said and winked. " He's in there just knock," she said knowing that I was in trouble already. I entered Mr.Serielo's office and he was already annoyed and upset. " Wow I didn't even tell you why they sent me here and you're already upset," I said trying to lighten the melancholy mood. He slowly looked up at me and made eye contact with me. His eyes were dressed in tears and the room's atmosphere changed so quickly. He took out his handkerchief and wiped his eyes then spoke."I'm sorry for holding you up son. What do you need?"
"What's wrong Mr. Serielo?"
"Nothing that you can help with. Just tell me what you did so I can give you either detention or a suspension."
"Are you sure you don't want to talk about it? I can always leave and come back at another time."
Silence danced around in the air and without even noticing it we had begun a staring contest. However, he blinked and told me to come back at lunch and to please stay out of trouble. As I was leaving the office I bumped into someone was very small compared to me. Then I heard a sigh of frustration. I was going to be nice but I felt like shit right now so whatever.
