Opening a door shouldn't be dangerous, should it? Well this door is special , so special that only a select few know of it. Even fewer have been near it. Behind it is a place you go to leave the world you are in and go to another to forget it all. Your imagination takes control of reality, you only return when you want to,at least that's what I was told when I took this job.
A book is written on all of its secrets, a book that the master hand wrote and is very proud of. If he knew of what happened a year ago he would have my head for sure. I am the transporter of the book. I did not choose this job, the master chose me for it. I thank the gods everyday he gave me this job instead of doing what he does to others when they come across the door without his permission. If you are to come across the door by mistake you don't live to tell the tale.I don't know what it was about me but the master took one look at me and said, "I will not kill you if you agree to be my transporter."
" But master...", this was all that a man known as the doorkeeper said before he burst into flames and was killed right in front of me.
"What does the transporter do?" I asked confused.
"The Transporter takes this book to my new doorkeeper and anyone else who needs to know of it. The only rules are that you must never tell anyone of what you do for me or that this door even exists and finally, you must never and I repeat, never give the book to the wrong person. If you fail to follow these rules you will never see the light of day again. Do you understand all i am telling you?", the master had a straight face as he said it.
"Yes sir, but i do have one question. How often will I transport the book?", I replied.
"You will transport it only every fifteenth years. If you don't already know from this moment on, you are immortal until i decide otherwise", he said as a puff of smoke erupted and when it cleared he was gone.
A year ago I was supposed to deliver the book to a man named, Garrett Clemons. He was an investment banker and he was never happy. As I came to his door a woman opened it and realized I wasn't her husband and asked me what i had wanted. "ma'am, my name is Arthur Times, and i was wondering if you knew where your husband was?", I asked politely.
" He up and left. I have no idea where that spineless, poor excuse of a man went!", she exclaimed as she burst into tears.
"Ma'am, it is very important that i find him. Is there anywhere special he likes to go when he is upset?"
"The only place i can think of is the bar down the street, he is always there, but i have already checked and they told me he hadn't been there since last tuesday.'
"Ok, thanks ma'am", and with that i turned around to head to that bar when she grabbed my arm.
"Hey if you find him can you tell him i want a divorce?", she asked as if it was a normal question you would ask a complete stranger you only met minutes before.
'I don't know ma'am, that isn't really something you should have a person doing for you it's something you two should talk about one on one."
"FINE!", she yelled while slamming the door in my face, and that wasn't even the most ridiculous part of that day. When I went to the bar to find Garrett I asked the bartender if he had seen him and he said that he was in the back room. When i came in to the back room Garret took one look at me and bolted for the exit. I chased him until we came to a dead end. "Look man, i know who you are and i don't want anything to do with that book, the door, or that creepy master guy!", he yelled.
"Woah, what's going on, how do you know about all of this already?"
"Two years ago my wife and I lost a baby and i went into depression. The master had sent a different transporter to get me and has tried every year at the same time since then.
The new transporter failed each time and when he failed he would face the consequences",he said as he turned away from me.
" How have you escaped him so many times? Why would you not want to go into the door? You have this wonderful opportunity of escaping reality and anyone would love to come and go as they please.", I ask completely puzzled .
" You go in that door and you never return, what ever the master has told you about that door is a lie. You don't escape reality, you leave this world and venture into the underworld never to return.", he exclaimed
"What does he want people to go to the underworld for?", i asked still not sure i should believe him or not.
"He thrives on sadness and once you go through the door all of the sadness you have ever experienced transfers to him and he is able to live for another fifteen years , but he usually refuels three years before he has too and if he doesn't get me this year he will die and i plan on letting him die."he said with hatred in his eyes. After he had finished the master appeared in a burst of smoke grabbed him and took him away. What happened after that is what could get me into a great deal of trouble.
When I left to make my journey back to my office, which is very close to the door, i was stopped by a man on the street and he robbed me of everything i had including the book.I chased after the man for quite sometimes but i couldnt catch up to him before he read everything in it. Once i did catch up to him he told me he wanted to meet the master. Knowing what the master would do to me and the man i came up with a plan that would get rid of the man who knew my secret. i told him i would allow him to follow me if he gave me the book back and promised to trail behind. He agreed and with that we were off.
When we arrived i ran to my desk and put the book in it magic drawer. I heard a scream and knew the horrible thing i had just done was over with. I ran to the master's side and he told me what had happened. i acted as surprised as i could and he bought it.
Present: While i was writing the book the master was over my shoulder and read everything. "so thats how that boy got here then!", the master yelled while picking me up.
"Yes, im very sorry." i responded.
"Sorry isn't going to cut it this time boy!", the master yelled while opening the door an throwing me in. I the realized what Garrett had meant and he was right. i tried to get out and it wouldn't open. i am now trapped in between the underworld and the normal world because I wasn't supposed to come through it and i'll be trapped for ever.
