Lily:

Dear Diary,

Remember when I always said how I wanted to fight? Now it's official. I'm an adult and a Hogwarts graduate. Last week, James, Padfoot, Remus, Wormy, and I became members of the Order of the Phoenix together. We all went on our first mission yesterday and we were ambushed. I saw Sev. He was fighting for Voldemort. He shot a killing curse at Sirius. Seeing my former best friend there, with that disgusting mark burned into his skin, I just lost it. I remember shooting a killing curse right back at him and in that moment, I regretted that I missed. I tried to kill my ex-best friend.

James:

Yesterday was the first time we saw Severus Snape after leaving Hogwarts. He was working with Voldemort and he tried to kill Sirius. Then Lily tried to kill Snape. She missed. That was the first time any of us used an Unforgivable Curse. Now Lily's on the couch, crying, because she almost intentionally killed someone, her ex-best friend. I feel so useless, because all I can do is hold her and wipe away her tears, because I don't know what to do. Pretty soon, casting Unforgivable Curses will become an everyday thing and no one will bat an eye as we fire off another avada kedavra. What then? Will the monster-killers become monsters themselves?

Lily:

Dear Diary,

Today, I married James Fleamont Potter. I know mum and dad would tell me that we're still way too young to be making decisions this big, but I love him and he loves me and I have trusted this man with my life on many occasions and he has never let me down. James Potter is the first person I want to see when I wake up in the morning. He is the love of my life, and the War helped me come to this realization a lot quicker.

The ceremony took place at sunset, and I was reminded of the time just a year ago (it feels like eons) when James and I had our first moment, when he asked me out. It was the same, peaceful, tranquil feeling, being away from the war and all that chaos and fighting and death. It was amazing.

Also, Sirius's best man speech, though entertaining, was FULL OF DEER PUNS. SIRIUSLY, WAS THAT NECESSARY?

James:

SIRIUS'S BEST STAG SPEECH WAS THE DEFINITE HIGHLIGHT OF THE WHOLE DAY! I AM SO BLESSED TO BE BEST FRIENDS WITH THE MARAUDERS! To the love of my life:

Lily, today I guaranteed that I will fight for you, hold you and wipe away your tears, watch the stars with you, and protect you for the rest of my life, however short or long that may be. I am honored to be your husband. I have loved you ever since seeing you on the Hogwarts Express, and will to love you no matter what.
