Jennie POV

I was in the school bathroom, looking into the mirror, trying to calm my nerves. I was freaking out and it was only my second day. Man, how will I survive this hell?
By not freaking out.

I sighed, fixing my hair and re-applying my lip-gloss. Being the awkward klutz I am, I end up getting some on the side of my mouth. I wipe it off quickly, knowing I had to get to class soon. I adjusted my white Chanel knitted crop top sweater. I wiggled in my high waisted skinny jeans before making my way out.

Lisa, the girl I met yesterday, was actually making her way in. I noticed she had a red bottle in her hand, with a tube. A lady walked in before. I think Lisa was holding a tube to connect to a feeding tube. She has one?

I decided to just ignore it and keep walking. That's what she wants me to do anyway, right?

I sat in my seat, waiting for the teacher to start and then Lisa came rolling in with her chair. I never really acknowledge her chair though; It's just Lisa. She's very pretty.

The same lady who followed her into the bathroom trailed behind her again, pushing her wheelchair. She moved the chair away from Lisa's desk before wheeling her over and taking out her books for her bag. A few moments later, the woman left. I stared at Lisa, watching as she opened up a notebook and started to write in it. I noticed she would rest her hand every now and then with a sigh.

Finally, the teacher started the lesson and I looked away. But for some reason it was hard to do so. I watched from the corner of my eye, and maybe I'm crazy but I could've sworn she looked at me every time the teacher wasn't looking, she would look at me. I'm pretty sure her eyes were looking down at my mouth .

How am I supposed to ignore her when she does that?

School was over, so now I'm at the grocery store with my mother. I tried to ignore Lisa in every class, and succeeded.

I stood beside my mother in the vegetable aisle, scrolling through Twitter on my in boredom. Something caught my attention, a voice. A familiar one. I turn my head, and there I see Lisa with a woman I'm sure is her mom. They were paying for their groceries.

"Do you know her?" My mom says suddenly.
"Uh, yeah, kinda," I shrug.
"Why don't you go say hi?"
"Well- I- okay," I reply, making my way over to Lisa. They were just turning around before I said her name. "Hey, Lisa!"
"Oh," Lisa says, her mothering pushing her chair towards me. I had to say, now that I actually looked at her she looked even better today in her black button up crop top and high rise jeans. We were wearing the same converse again.

"Hi, Jennie. Mom, this is Jennie."
"Hi," I shook her mother's hand and my mom came over.
"Mom, this is Lisa."
Mom shook her hand with Lisa and her mom before paying for the groceries. I noticed Lisa's hands were a bit different, how they slightly turned the other way and her fingers didn't completely stretch out. I held some of the bags as we walked out together.
"It's nice that my daughter has already made a friend." WOW MOM.

"I feel the same way," said Ms. Manoban, and I could see Lisa roll her eyes but manage to smile. "Maybe Lisa can visit you guys someday."
"Mom, I can plan my own play-dates," Lisa rolled her eyes again. I giggle.
"How about today," mom offers. "Jennie doesn't have any plans."
WOW MOM.

"I don't know, I'm really hungry," I could tell Lisa was trying her hardest to get out of this.
"That's fine, you can stay for dinner." Mom, what're you doing?
"Mom, I-"
"That sounds great! I'll pick you up at eight thirty?" Lisa's mom interrupts me.
I look at the time on my phone. 7:30pm. A whole hour with Lalisa Manoban? Interesting.
Lisa sighs. "Fine."

* * *

After showing Lisa around my small, three bedroom apartment and introducing her to my little sister Ella (which she adored) we hung out in my room.
"You're room is pretty empty."
"Oh, that's because we're moving," I smiled. "We should be out by the end of the week."
"Oh," I swear she was frowning a little.
"I mean, only a few blocks down."
"Oh," she nodded, leaning back in her wheelchair.
"So... who was that lady with you at school?" I asked, but quickly regretted it.

Why am I so damn nosey?
"She's my nurse. She helps give me my medication," she points down at her visible feeding tube. "I take it through my feeding tube."
"I figured."
"Oh."
"You say that a lot."
"Well when you're forced to hang out with someone it's all I can really say."
Wow, she gets mad fast. "Well you don't have to be rude about it."

"Listen, Jennie, stop. You're trying to be my friend but you can't. I don't want any friends, I don't want you as my friend!" She raises her voice, and soon enough she's wheeling out of my room. I follow her out. "Lisa-!"

"Just forget it," she makes her way to the door and I watch her struggle to open the door with one hand and wheel her chair back with the other. I shake my head, opening it for her. "Thanks," she mumbles, and soon enough, she left. I close the door with a sigh.

She really doesn't want any friends.
