Soccer

Beat, beat, was the rhythm of my heart

Thud, thud, my ears were redder from the start

Crowds were roaring and suddenly cheering

However, their voices were now just fading

Shh, shh, my knees are locked to the ground

Hush, hush, eyes are locked to the target, not sound

Voices echo in the stadium, overcrowded

Goalie has a smirk on his face, enlightened

Not looking down, this is the time now

Whistle blows, the game has begun, how!

Feet gliding left to right, not stopping

Team mate kicks high, the ball soaring

My hands are clenched to a fist, tightly

Ball dances into the net like a flash of thunder

My teammates stretch their arms up wide

Rain pours, and our sweat dissolves, nothing to hide

Again, the whistle blows, the ears are ringing

Shoulders straight up, everyone is panting

Another shot, another chance

Ball comes near my feet, I dance

Left, right, you got what it takes

Hopes up, glide in the air, the ball shakes

As it is kicked, it flies with no care

The goalie catches it, it’s just no fair

Whistle blows again, my head shakes

Sweat trickles down my forehead, we’re at steak

My opponent looks at my team in disgust

Our heart burns, to win this we must

Relying on each other, through memories

Just like stars, we’re all there, sweat, tears, and fears

Running towards our opponent, my team holds on

Scanning it through, my feet takes it to the side, run

Again, it soars in the air, past our heads, above

Goalie missed it, and there we were a dove
