"The Shortcut". Yes, you did read that right. "The shortcut" she breathed. The shortcut is what every high schooler calls the little wood passageway that she, unlike many others use to get to school. Skipping school and smoking cigs is the main accord for the passageway. A dirt filled, piece of crap, woods walkway that has rocks as big as boulders. Step on one and that's it, you're officially stuck. Practically guaranteed to have a relentless ache in not only your foot but you back and head as well. Count yourself lucky if you don't fall backwards with more rocks awaiting to mutilate you. On the down side, if the rocks don't get you the populars sure will. They think they own the woodland. If I didn't live so close to the school I would be spared the agony of the time saving shortcut. Everyone thinks of it as this amazing discovery of an "easy" way to arrive right at the schools parking lot. Little did they know.
